Patriots | Tom Brady sharp Friday

Sat, 20 Jan 2018 09:01:27 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) threw the ball "incredibly well" during practice Friday, Jan. 19, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: Reports have been pretty much all over the place on the level of Brady's practice participation this week, so it's hard to put a lot of faith behind anything we hear between now and the start of the game. Despite Brady and head coach Bill Belichick's "we'll see" statements about whether the quarterback will play or not this weekend, owners should expect him to play and play well. He's the top remaining quarterback left on the board in the postseason without question.

Patriots | Tom Brady dealing with injured right thumb

Sat, 20 Jan 2018 06:59:39 -0800

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (thumb) suffered a cut to his right thumb during practice Wednesday, Jan. 17, which was gushing blood and required multiple stitches, according to a source close to the situation. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that the injury occurred when RB Rex Burkhead collided with him. Brady was held out of practice Thursday, Jan. 18, but was "zinging it pretty good" when he returned to action as a limited practice participant Friday, Jan. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was listed as questionable on the injury report but it would be a total surprise if he wasn't under center for the AFC Championship Game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, Jan. 21. He should be viewed as a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all fantasy formats despite the thumb issue.

Patriots | Tough matchup for Rob Gronkowski

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 19:55:24 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, and the Jaguars allowed 4.1 receptions per game to tight ends this season.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a tough matchup on paper, Gronkowski is still head and shoulders above any other tight end available this weekend. If you are playing DFS contests, Gronkowski should be worth the price tag.

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 13:14:50 -0800

New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 19, and is listed as questionable for the AFC Championship game.

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 13:07:20 -0800

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 19, and is listed as questionable for the AFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: Burkhead appears to have a decent chance to play in the championship game, but owners will need to check the inactive list for his official status. He would have a role in the rushing and passing game if he plays and could be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady undefeated in career vs. Jags

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 18:33:16 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is a perfect 7-0 in his career against the Jacksonville Jaguars, including in playoff games. It's his most wins without a loss against a single opponent. Additionally, in those seven games, Brady has completed 171-of-237 passes (72.2 percent) for 1,832 yards, to go along with 17 touchdowns compared to only two interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Brady owns stellar numbers for his career opposite Jacksonville but this Jaguars defense may be unlike any he's ever faced. On top of that, it appears he'll be suiting up on Sunday afternoon at less than 100 percent, which could make him a risky chalky play in DFS formats this weekend. Despite this, he's still the top option to roll with at his position out of all four starting QBs.

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 13:35:12 -0800

New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee's status for the AFC Championship game is uncertain, so owners should check on his status later in the week. He would see limited carries if he plays against the Jacksonville Jaguars and may not be a great fantasy option.

Patriots | Rex Burkhead a limited participant

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 13:30:29 -0800

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Burkhead did not play last week despite practicing, so his status for the AFC Championship game is uncertain at this point. He probably would receive a limited role if he is active for the game but could be a flex option in leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady takes step forward

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 09:48:40 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) returned to practice Thursday, Jan. 18, after injuring his hand in practice Wednesday, Jan. 17. The swelling in Brady's hand doesn't appear to have worsened as he was practicing instead of receiving treatment. The extent of Brady's practice participation was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely that Brady was a limited participant, but it's encouraging nonetheless that he was on the field after hurting the hand yesterday. Unless he suffers a severe setback or aggravation he will be playing in the AFC Championship and is easily this weekend's top daily fantasy quarterback option.

Patriots | Tom Brady 'should be OK' for Sunday

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 19:22:29 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's (hand) "hand should be OK," a source told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. It could affect him "slightly" but the belief is that he should be good overall for the Conference Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Normally, when it comes to postseason affairs, Brady has been as reliable as can be throughout the history of the game, but going up against arguably the best defense in football at less than 100 percent could prove to be the ultimate challenge. Despite this, it's hard not to view him as the top QB1 option for DFS formats this weekend.

Patriots | Tom Brady undergoes X-rays

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 14:51:43 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) underwent X-rays on his injured hand Wednesday, Jan. 17, but they did not show any structural damage, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Brady could be limited during practice for the rest of the week but should be ready to play in the AFC Championship game. He should be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues despite the tough matchup.
