Patriots | Phillip Dorsett hopes to practice

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 15:54:59 -0700

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett (knee) said his knee is a little sore but hopes to participate in practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett recorded three catches and 68 yards in Week 2 before he left because of the injury. He likely will continue to be No. 3 receiver for the Patriots for the time being and could be a flex option in deeper leagues if he is active this week.

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 15:43:54 -0700

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (groin) said he is feeling good and considers himself day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Gronkowski is dealing with a minor injury and has a chance to play in Week 3. Owners will need to keep an eye on his practice participation during the week but should be in starting lineups if he is active against the Houston Texans.

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (groin) will test his groin injury Monday, Sept. 18, but it's not believed to be serious.

Fantasy Tip: Gronk had a 6-113-1 game in Week 2 and is an elite TE1 in any matchup. Stay tuned for test results.

Patriots | Brandin Cooks quiet against old team

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:57:20 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks managed just two receptions for 37 yards on four targets in his return to the New Orleans in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: The performance was rather disappointing considering the fact Tom Brady threw for 447 yards and three touchdowns and Cooks was underneath very little of that. He'll look for better results in Week 3 against the Texans at home.

Patriots | Rex Burkhead gets into end zone

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:56:47 -0700

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead posted three receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 2 against New Orleans and he added two runs for three yards.

Fantasy Tip: Burkhead has been talked up as a potential fantasy sleeper and this is why. He'll find the end zone on occasion. He'll likely continue to see a handful of targets and red zone opportunities going forward, and might see more responsibilities if Rob Gronkowski is forced to miss time.

Patriots | Phillip Dorsett totals 75 yards

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:56:03 -0700

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett (knee) posted three receptions for 68 yards in Week 2 against the Saints and he added one run for seven yards before being forced out due to a knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett had his first meaningful action after being targeted just once with no catches in the opener. He is still learning the system after being acquired just a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully his knee injury isn't significant and he'll be back in there in Week 3 against the Texans.

Patriots | Chris Hogan busy in Sunday's victory

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:55:15 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan posted five receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 2 at New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan certainly made up for his egg laying in Week 1, but a lot of fantasy owners probably went away from him after he managed just eight yards in the opener. The Patriots host the Texans in Week 3.

Patriots | James White hauls in eight receptions

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:54:42 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White rushed twice for 11 yards in Week 2 at New Orleans and he added eight receptions for 85 yards on his eight targets.

Fantasy Tip: White isn't a bad RB3 in most standard fantasy formats, but he's a tremendous RB2 in PPR formats heading into Week 3 against the visiting Texans.

Patriots | Mike Gillislee runs for 69 yards, TD

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:54:12 -0700

New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee rushed 18 times for 69 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 game against the Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee has managed four rushing touchdowns through his first two games, basically filling the role of the departed LeGarrette Blount in the New England backfield. He has obviously emerged as a must-start fantasy option across the board heading into Week 3 against the visiting Texans.

Patriots | Tom Brady posts 447 yards, three TDs

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:53:40 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 30 of his 39 pass attempts for 447 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 1 in New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was at 300 yards passing at halftime for just the second time in his career. He also joined Warren Moon as the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 400 yards and three touchdowns after his 40th birthday. Reports of TB12's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Patriots | Phillip Dorsett injures knee

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 13:13:19 -0700

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett was serving as the No. 3 receiver for the Patriots with Danny Amendola out, but it is not known when Doresett will be able to return. Owners can avoid Dorsett even if he is able to play next week.

Patriots | Rex Burkhead suffers injury

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 13:04:49 -0700

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (ribs) injured his ribs during the team's Week 2 game and was considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Burkhead was involved in the offense during the first half of the season but did not play after halftime. Owners should know more about his situation in the next day or two. The Patriots use multiple running backs in their offense, which limits Burkhead's fantasy value. He could be a flex option at times this season.

Patriots | Rob Gronkowski injury update

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 12:50:37 -0700

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (groin) suffered a groin injury in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski's status for Week 3 is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to monitor the situation over the next few days. Gronkowski is a No. 1 tight end when he is healthy but his injury history makes him a risky option.
