Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon is expected to see touches in Week 2 against the New England Patriots with RB Adrian Peterson deactivated, but RB Matt Asiata is likely to start and see a majority of the carries.
Fantasy Tip: At $3700 (7.4 percent of salary cap) in FantasyScore leagues, McKinnon looks to be attractive, but that's the same price for Asiata. If you are looking for a low-cost option with upside, go Asiata over the rookie McKinnon.

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata figures to get a majority of the touches in Week 2 against the New England Patriots with RB Adrian Peterson deactivated. RB Jerick McKinnon is also expected to see touches.
Fantasy Tip: At $3700 (7.4 percent of salary cap) in FantasyScore leagues, Asiata is a solid low-priced addition. His inclusion will allow you to build a team of studs at other positions while getting starter-type production.

Fantasy Tip: You can safely remove Peterson from all of your FantasyScore and standard-league lineups. Both Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon aren't attractive options, even at the minimum salary for running backs ($3,700). Cordarrelle Patterson, who might be used even more now, is looking more attractive now at a price of $6,000 (12.0% of cap).

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson admitted in a police report that he did "whoop" one of his children last May when he visited him in Houston. When the 4-year-old boy returned home, his mother took him to a doctor, and the boy told police Peterson had hit him with a branch from a tree. The doctor said the boy had a number of lacerations on his thighs and bruise-like marks on his lower back and buttocks and cuts on his hand. Peterson regarded it as a normal spanking when he was questioned by investigators. A grand jury earlier this summer decided not to charge Peterson, but a second grand jury is now indicting him.
Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned on more information on this story and how it might pertain to Peterson being suspended or missing any time. Until we know more, plan to stick with him in your starting lineups, but be prepared for a quick change before Sunday morning.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has been indicted in Texas for reckless or negligent injury of a child, according to a person with knowledge of the case. Peterson reportedly used a switch to spank his son. He'll have to return to Texas to post bond, but there is no timetable for that to happen. Peterson returned to practice Friday, Sept. 12, after being absent Thursday, Sept. 11. The team is gathering information regarding the legal situation.
Fantasy Tip: It's unknown how this'll affect Peterson's availability on the field, but to be safe, you might want to make backup plans just in case. Matt Asiata is likely to be next in line, but there might be better options on the waiver wire in your league. Cordarrelle Patterson could be used even more in the running game if Peterson is forced to miss any time.

Harris (shoulder), OG Charlie Johnson (ankle), FB Zach Line (ankle), LB Michael Mauti (foot) and CB Jabari Price (hamstring) are listed as probable. Watts did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 12. Smith, Floyd and Rhodes were limited during practice, while the other players fully participated in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has been one of the top fantasy running back for the past several years and has the ability to post awesome numbers each week. As expected, Peterson is one of the most expensive running backs on FantasyScore (16.4% of the cap) but may not be able to bring much of a profit even against a weak New England Patriots run defense.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson looked to be trying to find his comfort level in the team's new running scheme in Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams, a scheme that uses more pulling guards and uses more runs that are designed to hit a certain point of attack, rather than allowing Peterson to find cutback lanes. Eleven of Peterson's 21 carries went to the right side of the offensive line, and he gained 42 yards on those runs.
Fantasy Tip: Peterson is a special talent, so the new running scheme shouldn't hurt him too much in the long run, but it's worth noting. As Goessling notes, the New England Patriots were awful in run defense last year and didn't look any better in Week 1. Peterson could go hog wild this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson disappointed his owners in Week 1 with 75 rushing yards on 21 attempts. He should be started in all standard leagues, and he could bounce back in a big way against the New England Patriots in Week 2. Peterson will cost you a pretty penny, though ($8,200; 16.4% of cap at FantasyScore).
