Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Cullen Loeffler expected to be ready for 2012 Mon, 06 Feb 2012 10:17:12 -0800 Minnesota Vikings LS Cullen Loeffler (back) is expected to be ready for the start of the 2012 season after undergoing back surgery earlier in the season. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Four DBs unlikely to return Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:26:06 -0800 The Minnesota Vikings are unlikely to bring back SS Tyrell Johnson, SS Jarrad Page, CB Benny Sapp or SS Andrew Sendejo in 2012. Page is expected to become a free agent in March, and he is not likely to re-sign. Sapp doesn't fit in with the youth movement in Minnesota, and he is unsigned heading into 2012. The Vikings are expected to cut bait with Johnson. Sendejo is signed through 2012, but he is probably not in the team's future plans. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Xavier Adibi not expected to return Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:25:46 -0800 The Minnesota Vikings are not expected to bring back LB Xavier Adibi, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. He played in four games on special teams, and was inactive in 12 others. He did not work on defense in 2011. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Jasper Brinkley might get crack at job in 2012 Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:25:24 -0800 Minnesota Vikings LB Jasper Brinkley (hip) did not play a down in 2011 after having hip surgery Aug. 30. He was placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve list Sept. 3. He figures to get a chance to win a starting job at base middle linebacker if the team decides not to bring LB E.J. Henderson back. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | E.J. Henderson still productive despite limited role Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:24:56 -0800 Minnesota Vikings LB E.J. Henderson (knee) had swelling in his left knee in the second game of the season, and never seemed the same in space. He was reduced to a part-time role around midseason to ease stress on the knee, but he still ended up second on the team in tackles with 130, including 81 solo stops and 16 tackles for loss. He is likely to draw interest on the open market, but his age and declining mobility with a titanium rod in his leg suggest his days as a three-down player are over. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Chad Greenway leaned upon heavily Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:24:26 -0800 Minnesota Vikings LB Chad Greenway played a whopping 1,056 snaps in 2011, or a 99.8 percent of his team's defensive plays. He led the team in that category, and he posted a career-high 174 tackles, including 104 solo stops and 13 tackles for loss. However, he was also credited with 16 missed tackles. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Several DL struggled in 2011 Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:23:41 -0800 While Minnesota Vikings DL Jared Allen is a defensive player of the year candidate, and Brian Robison and Kevin Williams held their own, the team struggled up front. DLs Everson Griffen, Letroy Guion, Remi Ayodele, Fred Evans and Christian Ballard all struggled in 2011. Ballard saw time at multiple spots, and might need to focus on one position. Ayodele and Evans figure to return, but they might have plenty of competition in training camp. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Kevin Williams might need to restructure contract Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:23:20 -0800 Minnesota Vikings DL Kevin Williams might need to restructure his contract in 2012, as he is due $7.5 million in base salary with bonuses next season. He ended up playing 818 snaps, or 77.3 percent of his team's defensive plays, in 2011 while racking up five sacks. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Brian Robison earning his keep Fri, 03 Feb 2012 18:22:39 -0800 Minnesota Vikings DL Brian Robison played 895 snaps, or 82.7 percent of his team's defensive plays in 2011. He signed a three-year, $14.1 million contract in March, and lived up to the pay more often than not. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Erin Henderson may leave in free agency Fri, 03 Feb 2012 13:20:11 -0800 Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent LB Erin Henderson may decide to sign with another team during free agency if the Vikings see him as only a part-time player. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Not expected to take WR in first round Fri, 03 Feb 2012 10:50:19 -0800 The Minnesota Vikings are not expected to consider taking a wide receiver with their first round draft choice because they have several needs to fill on the team. Frazier said the team will look for a running back that plays similar to Peterson's style if they do need to draft a running back. Comment (0) | Share: Vikings | Joe Webb could be used in different ways in 2012 Fri, 27 Jan 2012 14:45:06 -0800 The Minnesota Vikings could use QB Joe Webb as a wide receiver and a kick returner in addition to a quarterback next season because they are committed to QB Christian Ponder as their starting quarterback.
