Miami Dolphins LB Cameron Wake's contract, originally reported as a four-year extension worth $49 million and $20 million guaranteed, is really a two-year extension that will pay him $17 million. Wake received a $7 million signing bonus, and his base salaries - $615,000 in 2012, $3.6 million in 2013 and $5.8 million in 2014 - are fully guaranteed. However, the last two years of his contract are contingent upon the Dolphins picking up a $3 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the 2015 league year. If the Dolphins don't want to pick up the option, they will either let Wake become a free agent or ask him to restructure his contract.

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said that QB Ryan Tannehill is "going to look like he's ready pretty quick." Tannehill benefits from the presence of offensive coordinator Mike Sherman, Tannehill's former coach at Texas A&M, who imported a playbook Tannehill is "80 to 85 percent" familiar with. "He has knowledge of the offense," Ireland said. "There are two other experienced players (Matt Moore and David Garrard) who are great pros. We drafted him to let him compete for the position. We need to play better at that position, whether it's a new player or Matt. That position really has to be more productive."
