Dolphins | Rashawn Scott stays in South Florida

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 19:26:04 -0700

Undrafted free-agent WR Rashawn Scott (Miami-Fla.) signed an undisclosed deal with the Miami Dolphins Saturday, April 30, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Scott posted 52 grabs for 695 yards and five touchdowns in his senior season of 2015, averaging 13.4 yards per reception. He has big play potential and could contribute with the Dolphins, although he'll need a giant training camp and preseason. Remember, undrafted free agents like Wes Welker (originally signed by San Diego) and Davone Bess have made their way into the mainstream in Miami.

Dolphins | Miami selects Leonte Carroo

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 19:48:57 -0700

The Miami Dolphins selected Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo with the No. 86 overall pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: Carroo has good ball skills and is good in traffic and in the open field. However, he has off-field issues and may struggle to make an impact initially in Miami behind the likes of DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills and Jarvis Landry. Carroo is a deep sleeper as a late-round flier in deeper leagues, but he should realistically be left on the waiver wire.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake to Miami at No. 73

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 19:08:48 -0700

The Miami Dolphins selected Alabama RB Kenyan Drake with the No. 73 overall pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: Drake is an explosive home run hitter in the backfield, and he's versatile, too, as he can factor into the return game immediately and could also be used out of the slot at times. Jay Ajayi is likely to be the main back in Miami, but Drake will spell him on occasion and could see five to 10 touches a week. He has considerable upside but will be a frustrating fantasy back to rely on until he's guaranteed a bigger role.

Dolphins | Ryan Tannehill impressing head coach

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 17:56:34 -0700

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has impressed head coach Adam Gase so far in this young offseason. "I didn't realize how live his arm is," Gase said. "The more I watch him throw, it's effortless. That ball travels down the field pretty good. He's hit some big plays, just underneath having some touch; it's been good to see things live."

Fantasy Tip: Tannehill has received his fair share of criticism over the last few years for underperforming. The news is promising thus far, but we'll see how he looks when the game matters. He has played better as his career has progressed, but he's not quite considered a consistent starting fantasy quarterback just yet.

Dolphins | Daniel Thomas familiar with offense

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 17:20:58 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas already knows the offensive terminology and what to expect, according to head coach Adam Gase. Gase added that Thomas is a step ahead of everyone in meetings, too, as Thomas played under Gase when they were both with the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will most definitely be playing at least behind Jay Ajayi. He'll have to compete for the backup spot, too. He has underwhelmed throughout his career, though, and holds next to no fantasy relevance.

Dolphins | Jay Ajayi viewed as starter

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 16:57:55 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi is viewed as the starter in the eyes of head coach Adam Gase. "He knows he's the starter," Gase said. "He's showing me a lot of great things. I like his skill set. He's impressd me more both days [of practice]."

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins could still add to their running back depth during the NFL draft, but Ajayi is the guy right now. He showed promise as a rookie last year and plays the part of a capable starter. If Ajayi stays healthy and doesn't have to compete for many touches, he has RB2 upside.
