Akilah Johnson, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins DT Tony McDaniel appeared in a Broward County (Fla.) courtroom Sunday, Feb. 7, after being charged with domestic violence, according to police and court records. Police officers arrested McDaniel on a misdemeanor battery charge, according to authorities. He was released from the Broward County jail on a $3,500 bond.

Prior to Sparano's decision, Porter said the two had a great relationship, including texting or talking every day. Porter said he has not felt like he's been a part of the team ever since his benching. "The last seven, eight weeks was not fun for me," Porter said. "After the suspension, I had no fun. I'm sitting up there feeling like I'm an outcast on my own team. I'm a captain, but I'm not going to the captain meetings. He's not meeting with me anymore. How do you come back?"

Aponte has been named the team's senior vice president of football operations. The trade occurred because Browns executive vice president of business administration Bryan Wiedmeier came from Miami and wanted to bring Thomas with him. Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Bill Parcells agreed to the trade as long as he could get Aponte, who worked for the New York Jets when Parcells was head coach and then director of football operations.

The team and Sun Life Financial, a Canadian financial and insurance services company, are finalizing the details of a deal expected to be five years with a series of options that could extend it to 20 years, according to a source. The agreement is expected to pay the Dolphins about $5 million a year, but that could rise to the $7 million range if the Dolphins or Florida Marlins meet certain playoff marks.
