Dolphins | DeVante Parker may see single coverages

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 06:45:05 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker could face a lot of one-on-one coverages with WR Jarvis Landry likely to command double coverage in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Parker's foot injury robbed him of much of his rookie season, but he turned it on late in the year. He posted 13 grabs for 286 yards and one touchdown in the final three games. He's a WR3 with some upside in fantasy.

Dolphins | Miami didn't want to lose Arian Foster

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 19:02:40 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (Achilles') impressed the team in a workout Monday, July 18, and one source said he "looked good." The team wanted to move quickly to sign him before he had a chance to board a flight and work out for the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is expected to compete with incumbent Jay Ajayi for the starting job, and he has declared himself 100 percent healthy after suffering a torn Achilles' tendon last October playing against the Dolphins. Foster will be worth scooping up in the neighborhood of Round 5 or so right now, but with a strong training camp and preseason, he could move up quickly. Still, with his injury history, be sure to draft plenty of draft at the position.

Dolphins | Miami defense was awful against pass

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:27:01 -0700

The Miami Dolphins defense allowed a 97.4 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks last season. It was the worst cumulative rating allowed in franchise history, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Dolphins | Arian Foster plays well versus division

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:03:38 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster has fared well against the AFC East in his career. In 10 games, Foster has totaled 12 touchdowns and averaged 105 total yards per game.

Fantasy Tip: Foster will obviously have six games against the AFC East this year, as division opponents play each other twice per season. His numbers against the division are encouraging, but he still has an extensive injury history to deal with. Don't view him as more than an RB4 in Miami.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake likely to be No. 3

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 19:01:31 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake is likely to be slotted No. 3 on the depth chart behind RBs Jay Ajayi and Arian Foster unless the team keeps four backs to include RB Damien Williams. He had some moments in the offseason program, but not enough to suggest he was ready to be a reliable No. 2 back, thus the signing of Foster. Head coach Adam Gase wants a back capable of playing all three downs, because he prefers to substitute backs for an entire series, instead of during a series.

Fantasy Tip: Drake still needs quite a bit more polish before he makes his way up the depth chart, but based on the injury history of Foster, the rookie Foster could see a meaningful role sooner rather than later. Still, for now, he is only worth grabbing in the late rounds in re-draft leagues, and as a middle-round pick in long-term dynasty formats.

Dolphins | Damien Williams is hardest hit

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 19:00:48 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams was the hardest hit by the addition of RB Arian Foster, as Williams slips from No. 2 to likely No. 3 on the depth chart with the potential to not even make the team unless they keep four backs. That's because RB Kenyan Drake figures to be No. 3 on the depth chart even if Williams is kept.

Fantasy Tip: The team invested a high pick on Drake, and he isn't going anywhere. Williams will be behind Jay Ajayi and Arian Foster, and could potentially be headed to another organization at this point. His fantasy outlook is very murky at this point.

Dolphins | Arian Foster declares his health

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 19:00:04 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (Achilles') said Monday, July 18, that he is fully healthy after suffering a ruptured Achilles' tendon last season. He said he still feels like a Pro Bowl-caliber player and intends to show that. "I don't have any expectations. Just coming here to compete and help the squad out however I can," Foster said.

Fantasy Tip: For now, Foster is not expected to start, as incumbent Jay Ajayi remains atop the depth chart. However, that race is certainly not settled and will be hashed out in training camp and the preseason. Foster certainly has the history, but he also has a lot of wear on the tires and a long history of injuries. Even if he is able to leapfrog Ajayi, Foster's workload will likely be curtailed to help keep him healthy.

Dolphins | Dion Jordan looks rejuvenated

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 18:59:27 -0700

Miami Dolphins DE Dion Jordan has had an impressive offseason and looks like a "brand new" player, according to a source. However, he is still yet to be reinstated. Training camp begins Monday, July 29.

Dolphins | Jay Ajayi still likely to start

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 15:26:53 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi is expected to enter training camp as the starting running back, in the opinion of The Palm Beach Post's Andrew Abramson.

Fantasy Tip: Ajayi's fantasy stock should take a hit with the signing of Arian Foster Monday, July 18. However, it might prove to make the sophomore a better value in drafts, as he'll be available much deeper into the middle rounds. And Foster is a risk entering his age-30 season with just 25 games played over the past three years and 1,454 carries during his career. View Ajayi as a No. 3 running back with upside, whereas Foster is a mid-round flier who likely shouldn't be counted on as a week-to-week starter. Kenyon Drake is currently third on the depth chart and is a late-round target in deep yearly setups.

Dolphins | Arian Foster contract details

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 14:08:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster's one-year deal is worth $1.5 million. It comes with incentives that could maximize the deal at $3.5 million.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has a lot of miles on his football odometer, and he has suffered through more than his fair share of injuries. It's better to draft him as a low-end RB3 to high-end RB4 with so much risk involved.

Dolphins | Arian Foster joins Miami

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 13:32:18 -0700

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins Monday, July 18, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Foster was easily the best available free-agent running back left on the market. The wear and tear he's dealt with, and the fact that he'll be 30 years old in August, kept teams away. Foster has only played three full seasons in his seven-year career. He and Jay Ajayi will likely battle for starting duties, and the move does hurt Ajayi's value a bit. Ajayi should now be an RB3 consideration, while Foster is more in low-end RB3 to high-end RB4 range. Rookie Kenyan Drake now only has real value in dynasty formats.

Dolphins | Miami interested in signing Arian Foster

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 20:12:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) is expected to work out for the Miami Dolphins Monday, July 18, and Miami will seriously consider signing Foster if his workout goes well.

Fantasy Tip: Foster would likely slide into the backup role behind Jay Ajayi if he does end up in Miami, but injuries and age raise plenty of red flags. Wait until the later rounds to take a chance on Foster.

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 20:06:47 -0700

Dolphins | Arian Foster working out for Miami

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 18:19:49 -0700

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) is scheduled to work out for the Miami Dolphins Monday, July 18, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Foster would add experience to Miami's young backfield, and he would steal at least some carries from Jay Ajayi. However, Foster's role and value remain tough to predict until he signs with a team. He is a late-round flier in the meantime.

Dolphins | Mixed review for Thomas Duarte

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 18:27:34 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Thomas Duarte has impressed head coach Adam Gase with his skills as a receiver, but Gase said he will have to wait until padded practices in training camp to gauge his skills as a blocker.
