Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi said he wants to drop eight to 10 pounds this season and play around 218 pounds to 220 pounds in order to be shiftier. He played between 228 pounds and 230 pounds last season.
Fantasy Tip: Ajayi showed promise in his rookie season despite playing second fiddle to Lamar Miller. With Miller out of town, Ajayi figures to take over as Miami's starting running back, although he could have more competition after the NFL Draft. For now, view Ajayi as a low-end RB2.

Miami Dolphins DT Ndamukong Suh was absent from the first day of voluntary minicamp Tuesday, April 26. He has made a habit of skipping voluntary workouts because he prefers to work out at the Nike compound in Oregon. Teammates are reportedly privately steamed about Suh doing what he wants.

Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake (Achilles') was able to practice Tuesday, April 26, just six months after tearing his Achilles' tendon. He worked on a limited basis, and didn't participate in team or 7-on-7 drills, but still impressive fellow DE Andre Branch. "That's awesome. He's definitely a vet in his league. He's been playing at a high level for a long period of time. He leads by example. He's the type of player you follow," Branch said. Head coach Adam Gase said the goal is to have Wake 100 percent when training camp arrives.

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi has impressed new head coach Adam Gase so far in offseason workouts. "I guess I never realized how shifty he was, and today was a great example," Gase said. "Just seeing him stick his foot in the ground and change direction, you didn't see him do that a lot in college. Just being able to see him move around, it was very impressive for me to see him in person. The way he cut in some of the run game schemes … I mean, I'm really excited to see what we can do going forward."
Fantasy Tip: Ajayi is at the top of Miami's running back depth chart for the moment, but that doesn't mean a ton after the Dolphins swung and missed at bringing in several other backs to compete with Ajayi this offseason. There remains a chance Miami lands Ezekiel Elliott in the draft, too. Depending on who else the Dolphins add in the draft, Ajayi could be worth a midround selection as a matchup-based flex play.

Miami Dolphins CB Tony Lippett is taking starting cornerback repetitions during the first week of practice. FS Michael X. Thomas is starting at safety, for now, in place of SS Reshad Jones, who is holding out for a contract extension. CB Bobby McCain has been starting in the slot.

Updating a previous item, Miami Dolphins SS Reshad Jones is sitting out of the voluntary veteran minicamp and won't report to any activity this offseason until he gets a contract extension, according to a source. Jones will not attend the mandatory minicamp in June and won't show up to the offseason conditioning program, either. It's unknown if he'll report to training camp. Jones has two years left on his contract, and the Dolphins have told him they plan to extend him. Both sides haven't had any talks regarding an extension yet.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott's buzz is loud right now, and he's a high-end RB3 at worst. Miami could put him in a featured role that would put him in the RB2 conversation.
