Dolphins | Caleb Sturgis out for OTAs

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 10:56:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins PK Caleb Sturgis (leg) will miss the rest of the organized team activities because of a leg injury, according to head coach Joe Philbin.

Fantasy Tip: Sturgis has about six weeks before the start of training camp to recover from his injury. Sturgis has not made more than 78.4% of his field goal attempts over his first two seasons and is not a great fantasy option.

Dolphins | Caleb Sturgis injured

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 10:09:44 -0700

Miami Dolphins PK Caleb Sturgis (quadriceps) is not present at organized team activities because he suffered a quadriceps injury to his plant leg. The severity of the injury is not known at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Sturgis has a few months to recover from the injury, so he should be fine for the season if the injury is not serious. Sturgis has struggled at times over the last two seasons and probably should not be drafted in most leagues.

Dolphins | Coach confident in Caleb Sturgis

Sat, 30 May 2015 07:50:23 -0700

Miami Dolphins PK Caleb Sturgis is still backed by the team even though he has ranked 28th and 29th in field goal percentage over the last two seasons, according to special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi.

Fantasy Tip: Sturgis is expected to be the kicker for the team this season but has not made more than 79% of his field goals in either of his first two seasons. Owners should be able to find better options at the position.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker impressing

Wed, 27 May 2015 13:19:04 -0700

Miami Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker has already gained the attention of QB Ryan Tannehill. "He's a good player. You can see his athleticism, his natural ability, already," Tannehill said. "He made a bunch of good catches [Tuesday] -- catches where he's using his body, keeping the defender off of him. He catches the ball with his hands."

Fantasy Tip: Parker still has some work to do as he will likely play behind Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and Greg Jennings to start the season. It will be hard for the Dolphins to keep Parker off the field, however, considering what Tannehill said about him.

Dolphins | Ryan Tannehill likes WR corps

Wed, 27 May 2015 08:25:28 -0700

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill praised his largely rebuilt wide receivers corps Tuesday, May 26, saying this is the most athletic group he has worked with in the NFL. He also praised them for being natural hands-catchers.

Fantasy Tip: Tannehill's receiving corps from the top to bottom, including tight end, has been completely redone, with the lone exception being 2014 rookie standout WR Jarvis Landry, the likely slot guy. Tannehill needs to build chemistry with his targets, but he is right -- this is easily the most athletic group he has worked with in his short NFL career. Fantasy owners are looking at a risky low-end QB1 or an ideal No. 2 target whose ceiling is vaulted.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker impressive at OTAs

Tue, 26 May 2015 17:19:14 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker faced CB Brent Grimes during organized team activities Tuesday, May, 26, and made several terrific catches. Parker shared first-team snaps with WR Greg Jennings.

Fantasy Tip: Parker has performed well in offseaon workouts and should have a solid chance to win a starting job during training camp. Parker could be a late-round option for owners in deeper leagues, because he should receive solid playing time in his rookie season.

Dolphins | Jay Ajayi to compete for starting RB?

Mon, 25 May 2015 12:40:31 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi is considered the No. 2 running back at this point and could potentially challenge RB Lamar Miller for the starting running back position.

Fantasy Tip: Miller had a solid 2014 campaign, so Ajayi would really need to impress this offseason in order to take the starting role away from Miller. It could very well end up being a running back by committee deal in Miami this season, but Miller is still the running back to own in Miami. He has RB2 potential if he maintains his status as the Dolphins' No. 1 running back.
