Fantasy Tip: Charles likely will be a big part of the team's offense since Chase Daniel will be the starting quarterback. Charles should be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore this week.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (spleen) will heal on his own and isn't expected to need surgery for a lacerated spleen. Trainer Rick Burkholder said Smith's recovery time should be around six weeks. Smith could return if the team advances deep into the playoffs. "From a long-term standpoint and from a health standpoint from Alex, he's going to be fine. That's going to heal up," Burkholder said. Smith wasn't diagnosed with a lacerated spleen until midway through this week after he put in a few practices.
Fantasy Tip: Chase Daniel is set to start against the San Diego Chargers in Week 17 in a very important game for both teams. We would not suggest risking a selection of Daniel for your FantasyScore lineups because of his lack of experience and limited practice time this week.

Kansas City Chiefs CB Phillip Gaines (illness) has been ruled out for Week 17. OG Zach Fulton (foot, toe) is listed as questionable, while TE Anthony Fasano (knee), LB Tamba Hali (knee), LB Josh Martin (hand) and LB Joe Mays (knee) are listed as probable. Martin fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 26, while the other players were limited during practice.

Fantasy Tip: Charles probably has a good chance to play in Week 17 since he was able to do something during practice this week, but owners should check the injury report before deciding on their lineup. Charles could be a starting option for owners this week on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list before they decide on their lineups. Bowe still has not caught a touchdown this season and has caught three or less passes in five of his last six games. Owners should be able to find better options than Bowe at running back.

Fantasy Tip: Daniel should not be considered in FantasyScore contests this week. There are likely much better options available to you.

Fantasy Tip: Charles has held in check in Week 16 but did help out in the passing game. Charles should continue to produce in the running and passing game, which makes him a solid No. 1 or No. 2 running back for owners on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Bowe is able to practice Friday, Dec. 26, so they can have a better idea of his Week 17 status. Bowe has a favorable matchup against the San Diego Chargers but is not a great option to use since he has not caught a touchdown yet this season.
