Kansas City Chiefs news, rumors and injuriesTue, 18 Jun 2013 09:27:53 -0700 Free-agent LB Desmond Bishop (Packers) will visit with the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday, June 20. Fantasy Tip: Signing with KC would make a lot of sense, since general manager John Dorsey worked alongside Ted Thompson in Green Bay. The Chiefs' 3-4 defensive scheme also fits Bishop's skill set very well. Share: Chiefs | Tyler Bray impressing Fri, 07 Jun 2013 05:21:18 -0700 Kansas City Chiefs QB Tyler Bray has impressed the team in mini-camps thus far. He has a good chance of winning the No. 3 quarterback spot. Share: Chiefs | Sign two draft picks Thu, 06 Jun 2013 14:12:02 -0700 The Kansas City Chiefs signed TE Travis Kelce and LB Nico Johnson Thursday, June 6. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. Share: Chiefs | Sign Vincent Agnew Thu, 06 Jun 2013 13:23:13 -0700 The Kansas City Chiefs signed CB Vincent Agnew (Cowboys) to a one-year deal Thursday, June 6. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Share: Chiefs | Alex Smith encouraged to make big plays Thu, 06 Jun 2013 10:28:04 -0700 Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn't afraid to have QB Alex Smith throw the ball downfield often, something he wasn't accustomed to doing during his time as a starter for the San Francisco 49ers. Reid is challenging Smith to be more aggressive without being careless with the football and causing turnovers. "It's a new offense. I would tell any quarterback that comes in new that that's what you need to do. I've told them all that. Go ahead and take your shots and see what you can get away with, within reason. But if it's a close throw, there are going to be a few of those in the National Football League on game day so you need to know what you can get away with on each route," Reid said. Fantasy Tip: Reid is known for preferring his offenses to stretch the field in the passing game, and although Smith hasn't had much experience with that, he's being groomed to be more of a gambler down the field. We don't expect Smith to become Drew Brees overnight, and Smith's completion percentage will likely suffer, as well as his lack of turnovers, but it might make him a bit more interesting from the fantasy side of things. Right now, continue to consider him a somewhat uninspiring backup choice with the potential to rise. "I always have high expectations, but you try to temper those expectations," Hunt said. "We do have a new staff. We have a lot of new players. I don't know how quickly it will come together once we get to September. But I'm very excited about what I've seen this spring." Share: ![]() |
