Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith's contract could be restructured to clear up to $8.175 million in cap space, according to former NFL agent Joel Corry. "Knock that base down to a million, and that's what you can get," Corry said. "(But) you raise his cap numbers in the future, which creates more dead money. That's been the one that I thought they might do for a long time."

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles will be taking a week off from football now that minicamp is over. Following the hiatus, Charles will begin an intense workout regimen. Charles said he would try to come back early and work with the Chief's strength and conditioning coach to get more in shape and back in the groove.
Fantasy Tip: Charles dealt with his fair share of injuries last year, but still managed to only miss one game. Over the past five seasons in which Charles has played in at least 15 games, he has averaged 1,680.2 total yards and 11 total touchdowns. He's a top-five fantasy running back when healthy.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Chris Conley has been receiving a lot of snaps with the starting offense, with satisfactory results. Conley also started with the first-team offense recently when WR Jeremy Maclin (foot) sat out with a sore foot.
Fantasy Tip: Originally viewed as a project by the organization, Conley is clearly impressing early on as a pro. He has a long way to go to tip the fantasy scales, but in cavernous leagues, he could warrant a late-round flier. Just note, the Kansas City offense hasn't been kind to their receivers' fantasy upside over the past two seasons. Still, there isn't a lot of talent standing in front of Conley, so he is worth monitoring leading into the season.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles will turn 29 by the end of the 2015 season, but he said he has no plans on slowing down and wants to play another six years. "(The game) has changed," Charles said. "They've got all kinds of technology now, all kinds of medicine people have come up with to stay healthy."
Fantasy Tip: Charles battled injuries last year, but he still managed more than 1,300 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns. The Chiefs added Jeremy Maclin to help stretch the field a bit this year, and Charles should still produce like a RB1 as the focal point of the ground game.

Fantasy Tip: On paper, Maclin lost fantasy value when he went from Philadelphia to Kansas City. Maclin achieved 85 catches for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Eagles last season. He won't see that same kind of production with Alex Smith and Co. Maclin immediately became the Chiefs' No. 1 wide receiver, however, and is still in WR2 territory.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has been asked to take more shots down the field this season. "I like where Alex is," offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said. "But now in the spring, we want to see any quarterback shoot the ball down the field and at least test it. That gives him the comfort level the next time he's in that situation."
Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Smith will be effective throwing the ball down the field remains to be seen, but with Jeremy Maclin in town to provide a deep threat, just taking an occasional shot should help free up Jamaal Charles a bit more.

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas has shed weight in order to maximize his speed as he transitions from running back to wide receiver. "I just got a lot stronger and I feel like I'm good right now where I'm at," Thomas said. "I weigh about, probably, 167."
