Jaguars | Blake Bortles looking to improve

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 09:47:32 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles worked with throwing coach Tom House and former NFL QB Jordan Palmer this offseason in hopes of tightening his throwing motion and learning to use his whole body when he throws. He indicated his plan was to work out with WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns leading up to training camp and work on his deep throws.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles will be the team's quarterback for the foreseeable future, and the team should be happy that he is trying to improve after he threw 17 interceptions in 14 games last season. Bortles could be a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues but probably will not see much time in starting lineups.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles dealt with injury in 2014

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 09:46:35 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder) dealt with a shoulder injury near the end of the 2014 season, which affected his ability to throw passes, according to general manager Dave Caldwell. Bortles did not need surgery during the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Bortles did struggle at times last season which led to 17 interceptions but was able to 2,908 and 11 touchdowns in 14 games. His play should improve this season since he knows what to expect and could be a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Jaguars | Paul Posluszny still starting?

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:07:25 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars LB Paul Posluszny (pectoral) is still expected to be a three-down player despite coming off a torn pectoral, according to The Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee to be No. 3 WR?

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 11:27:17 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee is slated to start behind WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, according to Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times Union.

Fantasy Tip: Lee has been dealing with a nagging knee injury this offseason, possibly giving Hurns a head start on staring opposite Robinson. This, of course, could depend on how quickly Lee recovers and how long it will take for him to acclimate to normal playing time and conditions. Lee is more of an attraction from a fantasy standpoint if he's healthy, but both should be taken as a WR5 for now.

Jaguars | Rashad Greene to work in slot

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:46:36 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene is expected to work as the team's top slot receiver. He has impressive teammates with suddenness and his football acumen.

Fantasy Tip: Greene is worth a late-round flier on draft day, as he could quickly emerge as a viable fantasy option sooner rather than later.

Jaguars | Ace Sanders on roster bubble?

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:46:01 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Ace Sanders is a question mark for a spot on the 53-man roster. His spot is likely dependent on his winning the punt return job.

Fantasy Tip: Sanders isn't expected to have much in the way of fantasy appeal unless injuries create a more significant role.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee working way back

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:45:16 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (knee) suffered a knee injury before organized team activities (OTAs), and he will need to catch up to quickly establish a Week 1 role.

Fantasy Tip: Lee is projected to be the No. 3 wide receiver behind WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns. Unless he can leapfrog one of the two and find his way into a starting role, he is best left to the waiver wire on draft day.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor likely to be No. 2

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:43:12 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (calf) missed most of organized team activities (OTAs) due to a calf injury. He is projected to be the front-runner to serve as backup to TE Julius Thomas.

Fantasy Tip: Harbor could re-emerge as a viable fantasy option, but he will need an injury to Thomas to see significant reps.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis to see lesser role

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:42:30 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis is in what is expected to be his final season with the team, and with TE Julius Thomas now in the mix Lewis should see time as a blocker and less as a pass catcher.

Fantasy Tip: If Thomas is able to stay healthy then the fantasy appeal for Lewis will be negligible, especially with Clay Harbor projected to be the primary backup.

Jaguars | Denard Robinson will have new role

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:41:52 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson had a chance as an every-down back last season, but with RB T.J. Yeldon in the fold Robinson is only expected to sub in for certain situations. He might also win the kickoff return role, too.

Fantasy Tip: Shoelace emerged as a viable RB3 or flex play in fantasy leagues last season, but he will likely need an injury or two like last season to see a significant amount of touches. On draft day, it's best to stay away.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart to be third-down back

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:41:11 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart suffered a Week 1 injury in 2014 to ruin his first chance to be an every-down back. He is likely to see most of his reps as a third-down back in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Gerhart wasn't that attractive last season, even as an every-down back, but he is especially less attractive with significantly fewer reps. Fantasy owners in leagues of 12 or more teams will want him in the later rounds for depth, but that's about it.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon expected to start

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:40:27 -0700

The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't handing RB T.J. Yeldon the starting job, but he is projected to start since the team spent a second-round pick on him.

Fantasy Tip: Yeldon might work in a crowded committee with Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson, but Yeldon clearly has the most upside. He wouldn't be a bad RB3 or flex fantasy option worthy of a late-round pick on draft day.

Jaguars | Bernard Pierce on outside looking in?

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:38:51 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Bernard Pierce is not projected to make the 53-man roster, according to beat writer Ryan O'Halloran. Pierce is believed to be in the running for the No. 4 job with RBs Storm Johnson and Corey Grant behind RBs T.J. Yeldon, Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Pierce can wiggle his way into a job in Jacksonville, he has a lot of work to do before he re-emerges as a fantasy threat again.

Jaguars | Corey Grant has roster edge?

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:38:02 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Corey Grant is projected by beat writer Ryan O'Halloran to serve as the No. 4 tailback on the 53-man roster, edging out RBs Storm Johnson and Bernard Pierce. Grant is believed to have the edge because of his ability as a gunner on punt coverage and kickoffs.

Fantasy Tip: Grant isn't expected to have much in the way of fantasy appeal unless injuries decimate the Jacksonville backfield.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon looking to earn spot

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 15:21:52 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon said he sees himself at the bottom of the running back depth chart and wants to work his up to the starting position. "I got myself as last, and I'm still trying to work my way up to the top," Yeldon said. "I'm just out there to compete and work my way up to the top, see what I can do." Yeldon said he believes he can be a three-down back for the team but wants to take things one step at a time.

Fantasy Tip: Yeldon probably will have to compete for carries during training camp but has a good chance to be the starting running back. Yeldon could be an option in the middle rounds of drafts this season as a No. 2 or No. 3 running back on a team.
