Colts | Sean McGrath making comeback

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 19:39:36 -0700

The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent TE Sean McGrath (Chiefs) Tuesday, June 2. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Fantasy Tip: McGrath posted 26 receptions for 302 yards and a pair of scores in 2013, but he announced his retirement last summer. Apparently he had a chance of heart and will be battling for a backup job in camp for the Colts. With Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener in the top two spots on the depth chart, McGrath isnít likely to make much of a splash from a fantasy perspective.

Colts | Andre Johnson loving Andrew Luck

Sun, 31 May 2015 20:40:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson said he has regained his passion for the game because of the opportunity to play with QB Andrew Luck, and he called Luck "smart as hell."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson was able to manage useful totals the last few years in Houston despite below average quarterback play. Now that Luck will be throwing him the ball, Johnson should be a solid WR2 in 2015.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett signs

Wed, 27 May 2015 11:24:45 -0700

Indianapolis Colts rookie WR Phillip Dorsett signed his four-year contract Wednesday, May 27. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett has a good shot out of the gate to be the Colts' third wide receiver behind T.Y. Hilton and Andre Johnson. Donte Moncrief is probably the favorite to win the No. 3 receiver job heading into offseason activities. Dorsett is a WR5 for now.

Colts | Andrew Luck impressed by Phillip Dorsett

Sun, 24 May 2015 17:27:01 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett has impressed QB Andrew Luck with his ability to quickly learn the offensive scheme. "It's definitely not too big for him," Luck said. "He fits in very, very well."

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett is expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver spot, and if he wins the job, he is worth scooping up in the later rounds of drafts.

Colts | Andre Johnson to have big role for Colts?

Sat, 23 May 2015 12:15:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson will play a significant part in the Colts' offense this season, according to ESPN.com's Mike Wells.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will be the unquestioned No. 2 receiver behind T.Y. Hilton and should plenty of opportunities to rebound from a disappointing 2014 campaign with the Houston Texans. If he can stay on the field, he's a viable WR2 candidate, especially with Andrew Luck now throwing to him.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett could be No. 3 WR

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:44:20 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett is expected to compete with WRs Donte Moncrief, Duron Carter and Vincent Brown for the No. 3 wide receiver job during training camp. Dorsett is also expected to be a candidate for the kick and punt returner jobs.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett has been working on picking up the offense during offseason workouts and should have the chance to earn solid playing time in his rookie season. Dorsett could be a late-round option in drafts next season because of his potential.

Colts | Andre Johnson comfortable in offense

Thu, 21 May 2015 05:52:02 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson has made a "pretty seamless" transition to the offense, and he has a strong grasp of the playbook, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Johnson took snaps with the starters during organized team activities Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: While Johnson is joining a crowded receiving corps, he still projects to have a significant role in the offense. Entering his 13th season, Johnson's production is on the decline, but catching passes from Andrew Luck won't hurt his stat line. At best, Johnson is a low-end No. 2 wide receiver in all formats. Still, there are no guarantees he is a starting fixture all season, and the touchdown totals haven't been helpful -- 12 scores over the past three seasons. All said, Johnson looks a lot better as your third receiver than your second, and he likely isn't worth reaching for entering his age-34 season.

Colts | Frank Gore transitioning smoothly

Thu, 21 May 2015 05:37:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore was made a "pretty seamless" transition to the Colts' offense and is displaying strong knowledge of the playbook, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: At 32, Gore's best years are likely in the rear-view mirror. However, a slight resurgence with his attachment to a strong offense isn't out of the question, especially in the touchdown department. Additionally, FantasyScore players and PPR owners will be interested to find out how Gore is planned to be utilized in the passing game, so check back for updates on that front. He has snatched just 27 passes over the past two seasons, after all. He should be drafted as a low-end No. 2 running back in traditional formats, and unless you're expecting a huge spike in receptions, Gore is best suited as a No. 3 back in PPR leagues.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett expected to help early

Thu, 14 May 2015 10:04:37 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett is expected to make an early impact on offense because of his speed, according to offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett likely will not see a lot of playing time initially, but his speed should help when the team spreads things out. Dorsett could be a late-round option in deeper leagues next season but should not be a weekly starting option.

Colts | Dwayne Allen missing offseason program

Wed, 13 May 2015 17:05:41 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen is missing the first four weeks of the Colts' offseason program as part of his plan to play as many as 20 games in 2015. "The high ankle sprain (from 2014) lingered a little longer then I wanted it to. I talked to (Coach Pagano) about it and there was an understanding. I've been out here for two months, just grinding, getting my body in good shape so that I can go out and the team can depend on me. Getting late in the year (2014), I had a banged up knee and a banged up ankle. They didn't feel, I didn't feel, that they could depend on me and that was frustrating because I feel as if, in every situation throughout the season, they can count me," Allen said. Allen expects to rejoin the team Monday, May 18, for the beginning of organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Allen played 13 games last season, catching 29 passes for 395 yards and eight touchdowns. As one of Andrew Luck's favorite red zone targets, Allen could perform like a top-10 tight end if he can stay healthy. Due to injury concerns, Allen could set up as a steal in the latter rounds of 2015 fantasy drafts.
