Colts | Arthur Jones should bolster team's run defense

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 18:18:16 -0700

Indianapolis Colts DE Arthur Jones has earned praise from defensive line coach Gary Emanuel for his versatility and unselfish play. "He loves to play against the run," Emanuel said. "In the defensive line area, you have to be a guy that loves to use up blockers and take on double teams, all those things and that's what Art brings to the table. He brings versatility to the front defensive line, so hopefully he'll make a great addition to our unit."

Colts | Two WRs have better chances to make team

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 16:12:53 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WRs Da'Rick Rogers and Griff Whalen have a better chance to make the final roster if the team decides to keep six receivers on the final roster, because WR LaVon Brazill has been suspended for the 2014 season.

Colts | LaVon Brazill suspended

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 13:32:14 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR LaVon Brazill has been suspended for at least one year without pay by the NFL for violating the policy and program for substances of abuse.

Fantasy Tip: With Brazill out for the season, Da'Rick Rogers and Donte Moncrief could receive bigger roles on offense in 2014. Griff Whalen may also have a chance to make the final roster. None of the players should be drafted in leagues but could be waiver wire options depending on how they are used on offense.

Colts | Trent Richardson will get first chance to start

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 13:20:08 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson will be given the first shot at starting running back. He is more talented than RBs Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard, and the Colts don't want to show that their trade for him last September was a failure.

Fantasy Tip: Due to Richardson's poor 2013 season, he stands to reward nicely as an RB2. Bradshaw and Ballard are late-round fliers.

Colts | Jack Mewhort favorite to start at left guard

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 13:16:30 -0700

Indianapolis Colts OG Jack Mewhort has the edge on the starting left guard position. OG Donald Thomas (biceps, quadriceps) did not participate in offseason workouts, and Mewhort moved ahead of OG Lance Louis on the depth chart during organized team activities.

Colts | Pat McAfee could be an option

Tue, 24 Jun 2014 11:37:52 -0700

Updating a previous story, when Indianapolis Colts PK Adam Vinatieri retires, P Patrick McAfee could be an option to replace him. McAfee has been making 60-yard field goals in practice. "If I keep making 66-yard field goals in practice every day that'll help out a lot," McAfee said. "I think it's going to get to the point it's going to be very hard for them to say 'No,' whenever that time comes, whenever Vinny leaves."

Colts | Patrick McAfee would like to try PK spot

Tue, 24 Jun 2014 00:04:19 -0700

Indianapolis Colts P Patrick McAfee hit several kicks from 60 yards out in offseason workouts, and he has expressed an interest in trying out placekicking duties from time to time. The idea is not likely to occur, however, as long as PK Adam Vinatieri is healthy.

Colts | Will keep some cap space

Sun, 22 Jun 2014 23:26:41 -0700

Although Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson has $13.7 million in salary cap space available, he does not plan to use all of it so he has room down the road to reward QB Andrew Luck and WR T.Y. Hilton with new deals.

Colts | More on Reggie Wayne

Thu, 19 Jun 2014 14:42:55 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (knee) feels like he's 100 percent healthy after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last season. His most recent visit with Dr. John Uribe showed no fluid in his surgically repaired knee. Wayne has been running routes at the team's facility. "I feel like I have nothing to prove to anybody," Wayne said. "I know what I can do. Guys in this locker room know what I can do. Now it's time to show the first-timers who have not seen me play, the ones that keep calling me Mr. Wayne, ones that say they played with me on 'Madden.' There's no reason why I shouldn't be ready (for training camp) in July."

Fantasy Tip: Wayne has always been a productive player when he's been on the field. However, he's entering his age-36 season, and Andrew Luck has plenty of other receiving weapons to go to. Even if he proves his doubters wrong by coming back fully healthy, he'll have to compete for targets with budding superstar T.Y. Hilton and offseason addition Hakeem Nicks. Wayne's PPR value will likely take a significant hit, and all things considered, he's probably safest as a WR4.

Colts | Reggie Wayne says he's ready

Thu, 19 Jun 2014 12:15:56 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (knee) recently said he has no problems with his surgically repaired right knee. He added that he's waiting until he's told he can suit up and "be a normal football player." Wayne did not participate in the team's mandatory minicamp, as expected, and head coach Chuck Pagano said he may be held out for the early part of training camp in July.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Wayne is coming off a serious injury, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt, because he's always been productive when healthy. But the Colts have plenty of other options in the passing game besides Wayne. He could be a solid WR3, but pegging him for WR4 numbers is probably more realistic right now.

Colts | Trent Richardson to be a three-down back?

Thu, 19 Jun 2014 11:43:06 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson is using his instincts when running instead of thinking the play through, according to coaches. Richardson has a chance to be a three-down player.

Fantasy Tip: If Richardson can prove to be a three-down player, his fantasy stock will surely rise. He's currently listed as the team's No. 1 running back in front of Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard. For now, consider him a weak RB2 in standard leagues.
