Houston Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz said Wednesday, June 3, he feels more comfortable during organized team activities entering his second season in the NFL than he did in his rookie year. "There was so much learning last year," Fiedorowicz said. "You come up the huddle and there's three or four things. You got to know the protection, you got to know where to line up, read the safeties, see what kind of coverage it is. There was just so much going through my head where I wasn't able to play fast. I noticed already this OTA session, I'm going out there and when I see it I'm going fast. The quarterbacks are really seeing us right now, so we're all excited," said Fiedorowicz. As a rookie, Fiedorowicz caught four of his seven targets, including one touchdown thrown by RB Arian Foster. The Texans targeted their tight ends a league-low 51 times in 2014.
Fantasy Tip: Fiedorowicz specializes as a blocking tight end, but that ability should allow him to remain on the field more often in 2015. Fiedorowicz will enter the season behind Garrett Graham on the depth chart, but he could emerge as a cheap DFS play is Graham is ever declared inactive.

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage is not in the mix to be the starting quarterback, as QBs Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett battle it out, but Savage has made steady progress according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Savage is being groomed as the franchise's quarterback of the future.
Fantasy Tip: Savage does not have much value for those in standard leagues, and those in long-term keeper formats might not want to invest in him, either. However, he continues to make strides and could have a bright future if he makes further progress.

Houston Texans QBs Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett are both seeing time with the first-team offense during organized team activities, but head coach Bill O'Brien said there is no timetable for naming a starting quarterback.
Fantasy Tip: Hoyer and Mallett likely will continue to compete for the job during training camp and the preseason. Fantasy owners should consider the winner of the job as no more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer split first-team repetitions in offseason workouts Wednesday, May 27, with QB Ryan Mallett. "The tempo (stood out)," said Hoyer. "You can tell we put a lot of work in and guys were just prepared. There weren't a lot of mental mistakes. Guys came ready to go and it was exciting -- got after it a little bit."
Fantasy Tip: Hoyer is currently listed as the de-facto starter on the Texans' depth chart, likely because Mallett is coming off a pectoral injury from last year. It's anyone's guess right now as to who will win the starting job in training camp. Hoyer has the experience edge, but Mallett has more upside. Neither quarterback will be anything more than a mediocre QB2 in fantasy, though.

Updating an ongoing story, Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is doing well in his recovery from microfracture surgery. Clowney has been working hard at rehabbing the knee, according to Texans head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: Mallett is expected to compete with Brian Hoyer for the starting quarterback job during training camp. Neither quarterback would be a great option in fantasy leagues next season and would only be No. 2 quarterbacks if they are selected in drafts.

Fantasy Tip: Hoyer may take longer to get used to a new offense, but he has more experience than Mallett. Whoever starts will be a backup fantasy quarterback and/or bye-week replacement at best.

Fantasy Tip: The Texans have high hopes for Strong, who fell into the third round in this year's NFL draft. He lacks big-play speed, but there are targets to be won in the Texans' passing game. Reporting out of shape isn't the best sign for a player whose fantasy value is on the fringe in standard drafts.

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins was called on the best receivers in the league by head coach Bill O'Brien, and the Texans were willing to part ways with WR Andre Johnson in part because the coaching staff believes Hopkins is ready to be the No. 1 option in the passing game.
Fantasy Tip: Hopkins had a career year in 2014 despite a revolving door at the quarterback position, and as the unquestioned top target in 2015, he should at least be a solid WR2.

Fantasy Tip: Strong will have a chance to contribute right away. As of now, he's a WR5 flyer to take near the end of drafts. That could elevate through training camp and the preseason.
