Packers | Aaron Rodgers will not be limited

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 11:36:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will not be limited during training camp even though he has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. "We're not counting throws all the time, and it's not a concern as it will be when he's later in his career," McCarthy said. "I mean, he's still very physically fit and so I don't feel like I need to protect him because of any type of elbow or shoulder issue, thing like that. But we just work through it, communicate and see where he's at every day." McCarthy said Rodgers' playing time in the preseason will not change.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is entering training camp healthy and has a terrific group of wide receivers to work with this season. Rodgers should be one of the first quarterbacks taken in most drafts this season.

Packers | Eddie Lacy tough to bring down

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 19:11:26 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy ranked fifth in yards after contact last year, and he plays "like he weighs 300 pounds," according to an NFC North personnel member.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy's powerful style is the perfect complement Aaron Rodgers and the passing game, and he is one of the safest bets to deliver RB1 value in 2015.

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 05:23:15 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) visited the Green Bay Packers Thursday, July 23, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham would have a bit of upside in this offense, but he's a middling TE2 target.

Packers | Eddie Lacy not setting goals

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 12:51:44 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy said he doesn't set personal goals. Lacy said he focuses on whatever it takes to put the team in a position to win.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy has back-to-back seasons of at least 1,100 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He was more involved in the passing game last year as well, scoring four times through the air on 42 receptions. Lacy should be taken as a top-five running back in 2015 fantasy drafts.

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 05:25:50 -0700

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is drawing interest from the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Wayne could be worth a WR5 flyer if he's brought to Green Bay.

Packers | Andrew Quarless likely not facing jail time

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 11:26:29 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless probably won't be imprisoned since he was charged with a misdemeanor and not a felony. Quarless was arrested for discharging a firearm in public, but he said it was an act caused by drunken stupidity, not violence.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear who will be the starting tight end between Quarless and Richard Rodgers at this point. Rodgers is expected to have an increased role and Quarless may be giving him the opportunity for more playing time with his off-field actions.

Packers | Rajion Neal the favorite for No. 3 RB?

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 12:26:30 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Rajion Neal may be leading the pack to play behind RBs Eddie Lacy and James Starks this season. Neal's familiarity with the offense could put him ahead of rookie RBs John Crockett and Alonzo Harris.

Packers | Green Bay looking at tight end market?

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 05:19:20 -0700

The Green Bay Packers could sign a free-agent tight end before training camp opens Thursday, July 30. Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) is considered a candidate.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham would enter into the mix and compete for targets and playing time with Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers. Quarless has some legal issues, and Rodgers is inexperienced. Despite lining up in a high-powered offense, whoever ends up seeing the majority of snaps will be low on the pecking order for targets. At this point, Rodgers is a low-end No. 2 tight end for deep leagues after a nice finish to 2014, and he is the only option on the fantasy radar.

Packers | Larger role for Richard Rogers

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 06:24:30 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rogers is expected to have a more significant role in the passing game this season.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers was targeted just 30 times last season, so he'll need an extremely big volume boost to tip the scales in the majority of fantasy leagues. Still, he had five targets in Week 17 and the NFC Championship game, and he scored a touchdown in the Round 3 playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. There is plenty of upside for deeper formats, especially with Andrew Quarless' legal troubles looming. Rodgers is a player to watch leading into the season.

Packers | Richard Rodgers, Andrew Quarless to compete

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 09:57:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers TEs Richard Rodgers and Andrew Quarless are expected to compete for the starting tight end job this year. Quarless caught 29 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in 2014. However, he could be subject to discipline under the league's personal conduct policy after being arrested over the weekend for discharging a firearm in public.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers played fewer snaps than Quarless and didn't produce as much, but those roles could be reversed in 2015, especially after Quarless' arrest this past weekend. However, neither are worth drafting in standard fantasy leagues.

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 05:39:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers DE Datone Jones was cited for marijuana possession several hours after the NFC Championship Game in January. He was suspended for the season opener due to violating the substance abuse policy.

Packers | Andrew Quarless safe for now

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:27:40 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless will not be released at this time even though he was arrested this past weekend for discharging a firearm in public, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Quarless will be competing for the starting tight end job during training camp but could be on the roster bubble if he struggles. Quarless has only 323 yards and three touchdowns last season and probably should not be an option in fantasy leagues even if he wins the starting job.
