Packers | Corey Linsley tore hamstring twice

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 08:20:02 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers C Corey Linsley (hamstring) tore his hamstring in April and again in July during offseason workouts. Linsley said the muscle isn't torn off the bone, but there is a significant tear within the muscle that requires time to heal. Linsley could miss the first six weeks of the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Packers | Jordy Nelson remains on limited duty

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 18:57:41 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson worked with QB Aaron Rodgers in practice Tuesday, Aug. 23, but Nelson was once again held out of competitive, 11-on-11 periods. He might not play in any preseason games, and he and Rodgers might only have a handful of practices together before the Week 1 opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, Rodgers believes it will be enough. "Because I know exactly where he's going to be," Rodgers said. "That's the beauty of us playing together for a long time."

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is being held out to preserve him and not test his injury too much before the games count for real. He is expected to be 100 percent for the regular season and fantasy owners can depend upon him as a WR1 in most formats. However, with a player coming off a major injury it's a good idea to load up with plenty of depth at the position in case there are setbacks.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers fine with limited work

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 18:56:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers expects to play in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 26, against the San Francisco 49ers, but how much has not yet been decided. "Whatever (head coach Mike McCarthy) wants me to do," Rodgers said. "We haven't talked about play time yet. I'm not sure how long he wants me to play, but it'll be good to get out there and get some work with the guys." He doesn't expect to play in the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs next week.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is a veteran with nine years under his belt, so we know what he can do - and certainly his coaching staff is well aware. He remains a top notch QB1 in all fantasy formats worth selecting in the middle rounds on draft day, especially with Jordy Nelson back from injury.

Packers | Jared Cook gets comfortable with QB

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 18:56:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook will play his first preseason game with QB Aaron Rodgers Friday, Aug. 26, against the San Francisco 49ers. The two have developed a rapport with one another since Cook came off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Cook is behind Richard Rodgers on the depth chart, so fantasy owners can leave him to the waiver wire into the regular season. However, he still has plenty left in the tank and could be a key contributor if Richard Rodgers suffers some sort of long-term injury.

Packers | Durable Kenny Clark sidelined

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 18:55:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers DL Kenny Clark (back) missed practice Tuesday, Aug. 23, due to a back injury. He said it was the first time he ever missed practice due to injury. "My first time ever missing a practice in my life, since elementary (school)," Clark said. "It's difficult watching teammates out there practicing. You just want to be out there. First time I've ever missed practice, it's crazy."

Packers | Aaron Rodgers may play

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 08:16:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers could play in the third preseason game, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers shouldn't need to see much game action this preseason in order to be ready. Rodgers should be one of the top quarterbacks in all drafts.

Packers | JC Tretter will start at center

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 15:35:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers C JC Tretter will be the starting center this season because he has had an excellent training camp and C Corey Linsley (hamstring) is still on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Packers | No brace for Jordy Nelson

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 15:27:49 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) was not wearing a brace on his surgically repaired knee during practice Monday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson appears to be on track for the start of the regular season and likely will be a big part of the passing game in 2016. Owners in most leagues should consider Nelson as a low-end No. 1 receiver that likely will selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts.

Packers | Jordy Nelson to do drills

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 09:35:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) will do individual drills Monday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: The question about Nelson is he's 31 and coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He's a low-end WR1 in fantasy that could return to fantasy dominance despite his age.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson to do work

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 11:24:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Jordy Nelson (knee) will work one-on-one as much as they can in practice Monday, Aug. 22, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. It will be Nelson's first practice of the offseason and he will be limited to individual drills. It is still unclear whether or not Nelson will play this preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Finally, Nelson is practicing. He has some catching up to do, but he's already familiar with the offense and should be focused on getting to full health before Week 1. Even coming off a serious injury, Nelson is a fringe WR1 with optimal value in standard formats.

Packers | Davante Adams having 'very good camp'

Fri, 19 Aug 2016 10:48:02 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams is having a "very good camp," according to head coach Mike McCarthy. "That's what you see; he's healthy and he's taken a step."

Fantasy Tip: That's good to hear concerning Adams, considering he was mostly a disappointment a season ago, even with Green Bay missing Jordy Nelson all year. Even with Nelson back, Adams should still be heavily involved as the slot receiver, and is certainly worth monitoring for his potential on a high-powered offense. He deserves a spot on the back-end of most rosters for his ceiling.
