Packers | Richard Rodgers expected to do more

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 18:41:09 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers is expected to see more opportunities in the passing game with WR Jordy Nelson (knee) done for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is still not being drafted in a majority of fantasy formats, ranking in the Top 25 at his position at best. However, he is a player who could see considerable growth and is a guy worth checking on off the waiver wire.

Packers | More receptions for Eddie Lacy

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 18:39:52 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy figures to see more responsibilities in the passing game with the loss of WR Jordy Nelson (knee) for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy is already a bona fide RB1 in most every fantasy format, and he has even flown off the board with the top overall pick in some experts drafts. Adding even a few more receptions for the season will be an added bonus for fantasy owners.

Packers | Jeff Janis hasn't won over QB yet

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 18:39:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jeff Janis is in the running for the No. 3 receiver job with WR Ty Montgomery, but beat writer Rob Reischel notes that Janis hasn't won over QB Aaron Rodgers yet. "Jeff will have some great days and some days where mentally he's making too many mistakes," Rodgers said. "The talent and athleticism are there. We just need to see from all those guys battling for those two spots just some more consistency."

Fantasy Tip: Janis could very well emerge as a fantasy option, and a very important one, by season's end. While being the No. 3 or 4 receiver in an offense in most places isn't attractive from a fantasy perspective, playing with Rodgers in Green Bay changes that.

Packers | Ty Montgomery still considered No. 3

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 18:38:30 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery appears to have the upper hand in the race for the No. 3 receiver job behind WRs Randall Cobb and Davante Adams with WR Jordy Nelson (knee) gone for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery is trying to hold off Jeff Janis and a handful of others for meaningful reps, and appears to be doing a good job. At 6-foot-0 and 216, he is a tall receiver and very bright. In fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams he is worth a late-round pick, and might be a decent WR3/4 or flex option in Week 1 if Cobb is unable to go.

Packers | Randall Cobb doesn't think he needs practice

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 16:12:51 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) said he'd be comfortable starting in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears even if he doesn't practice next week. However, wide receivers coach Alex Van Pelt would like to see Cobb play before the season opener. Van Pelt said it's realistic for Cobb to return before Week 1, and he has no doubts that Cobb could play at a high level against the Bears even without practice.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is clearly the Packers No. 1 target for Aaron Rodgers with Jordy Nelson out for the year, and he remains a high-end WR1 in fantasy drafts. However, depending on how much he practice next week, he might not be a slam dunk on FantasyScore in Week 1. Davante Adams will surely be a popular daily pick if Cobb is limited at all.

Packers | Randall Cobb expects to be ready

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 15:17:05 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) thinks his sprained right shoulder will be good to go to play in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears in 12 days. "I don't plan on missing a game," Cobb said. "I'm doing everything in my power to get back before then." However, there remains swelling in his shoulder, but he said he's doing much better than when he was injured in the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Aug. 29. Cobb did not practice Tuesday, Sept. 1, but watched from the sidelines.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Cobb doesn't suffer some sort of setback, he should be good to go for Week 1 against the Bears. Even with Jordy Nelson out for the year, Cobb should be a top-tier WR1 in all formats worth taking in the early second round. His targets should increase significantly with Nelson on the shelf.

Packers | Jordy Nelson placed on IR

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:39:33 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Randall Cobb and Davante Adams are now Aaron Rodgers' go-to wide receivers. Adams should be considered a WR2 with Cobb still in WR1 territory. If you're in a keeper league, feel free to put Nelson in your IR slot as well.

Packers | Ty Montgomery hurt

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 12:48:11 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (hamstring) is dealing with hamstring tightness following practice Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Hamstring tightness doesn't take a lot of time to recover from. Montgomery is fighting for the Packers' No. 3 wide receiver job, so he's worth a stash on your fantasy roster.

Packers | Randall Cobb has AC joint sprain

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 13:36:06 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) has been diagnosed with an AC joint sprain, after undergoing further tests Sunday, Aug. 30, according to a source. He suffered the injury in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb's status for the season opener against the Chicago Bears is in question, although the injury is considered to be minor. If he is not able to play in Week 1, Davante Adams would serve as the team's No. 1 receiver.
