Packers | Jordy Nelson limited to one catch

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 21:38:56 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson finished with one catch for nine yards on four targets in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson was targeted on a couple of patented deep balls off play-action, but a four-target effort on a night in which Aaron Rodgers attempted 56 passes is definitely cause for concern for his owners. The touchdowns that carried Nelson's value through the first four weeks of the season have dried up, and he has only 10 catches for 115 yards on 24 targets over the last three games. He's likely to draw shadow coverage in Week 8 from Atlanta Falcons top corner Desmond Trufant, which could mean he will turn in another disappointing effort next week.

Packers | Ty Montgomery tallies 126 total yards

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 21:31:55 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery delivered his second straight high-volume performance as a part-time receiver and part-time running back in a Week 7 victory over the Chicago Bears, finishing with 10 catches for 66 yards while adding nine carries for 60 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery played some running back in high school and college, so his added responsibilities arenít foreign to him. With that said, he looks like a natural coming out of the backfield and may be carving himself out a long-term niche as a Swiss Army knife for this offense. At this point, it wouldn't be shocking if he remains in a similar role once James Starks is able to return in a few weeks. He's already earned must-start status and should expect another 15 to 20 touches next week versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Packers | Randall Cobb finds end zone again

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 20:55:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb caught 11-of-15 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in a Week 7 victory over the Chicago Bears. Cobb also added five carries for 21 yards.

Fantasy Tip: As great as Cobb's final line was, it could have been even better. He had a potential first-quarter TD catch knocked away at the last second and couldn't quite get his second foot down inbounds on another potential first-half score. It finally came all together for him and Aaron Rodgers on a beautiful corner route late in the fourth quarter. Cobb is essentially serving as an extension of the running game with Green Bay's backfield in shambles. His current role makes him a solid WR2 in PPR with WR1 upside.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers flashes vintage fantasy form

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 20:43:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers went 39-of-56 for 326 yards and three touchdowns in a Week 7 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers & Co. squandered multiple red-zone opportunities, settling for two field goals in the first half. After Rodgers committed a fumble that led to a Bears' defensive touchdown to open the second half, things started clicking. Rodgers connected with Davante Adams for touchdowns on each of the next two drives and found Randall Cobb for a score on the following possession. With Ty Montgomery and Cobb serving as the primary rushing threats at the moment, Rodgers may be forced to attempt 50-plus passes more often. He is still a top-five fantasy quarterback.

Packers | Davante Adams explodes for 132 yards

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 20:37:29 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams played through a questionable tag due to a concussion he suffered in Week 6 and finished with 13 catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: All three marks are career highs. While Aaron Rodgers avoided Jordy Nelson like the plague Thursday night, Adams took advantage of multiple blown coverages en route to his best day as a pro while racking up 16 targets. Even though he hasn't been terribly efficient up to this point of his career, it might be time for owners to start trusting him. With Green Bay's backfield in shambles, the Packers may become a high-volume passing attack out of necessity, allowing Adams to post WR3 production on a regular basis.

Packers | Don Jackson departs with hand injury

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 19:15:00 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Don Jackson (hand) suffered a hand injury in the first half of the Thursday, Oct. 20, game against the Chicago Bears in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson was promoted from the practice squad earlier in the day but lasted only two carries before exiting. Receiver Ty Montgomery figures to be the lead back for the time being, while Knile Davis could eventually get some work despite being with the team less than three days. Regardless of the seriousness of Jackson's injury, look for Green Bay to pursue another running back in the coming days.

Packers | Eddie Lacy placed on IR

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 11:20:37 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Oct. 20. The team also signed practice squad RB Don Jackson to their active roster.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy will miss at least eight weeks and could miss the rest of the season depending on the severity of his ankle injury. Owners in most leagues can drop Lacy if they need a replacement. Jackson has a good chance to receive most of the carries until James Starks returns from his injury. Jackson can be a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Packers | Don Jackson will be added to roster

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 10:29:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers practice squad RB Don Jackson will be signed to the active roster and is expected to be active for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: There is a good chance that Jackson will receive most of the work at running back against the Chicago Bears because of the injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks. Jackson should be considered an attractive flex option in leagues over the next few weeks.

Packers | Eddie Lacy to be placed on IR

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 10:17:47 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) will need surgery on his ankle and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list. The Packers will decide later if Lacy will be able to play again this season.

Fantasy Tip: Don Jackson likely will be the main running back for the Packers for the time being with Ty Montgomery also receiving some carries in Week 7. Jackson should be at least a flex option in leagues over the next few weeks. Knile Davis may also receive some playing time at running back in the next week or two but should be avoided in leagues. James Starks probably will take over the starting job when he returns from his knee injury and can be a No. 2 running back.

Packers | Eddie Lacy's weight back up

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 07:58:23 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) has returned to his 2015 frame when team sources say he was between 255 and 265 pounds. However, Lacy was averaging 5.1 yards per carry before his ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy is out this week, and he could miss multiple weeks with the ankle injury. Ty Montgomery is filling in against the Chicago Bears. He makes for a risky flex option in Week 7.

Packers | Ty Montgomery to see majority of RB time

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 07:14:30 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery will see the majority repetitions at running back Thursday, Oct. 20, in Week 7, according to beat writer Rob Demovsky on Sirius XM Fantasy Radio.

Fantasy Tip: Conventional thinking would place Montgomery as a bust candidate against the Chicago Bears playing out of position. However, he could actually see more action as a receiver from the backfield. He wouldn't have the upside of the deeper routes, but in a PPR setting, he could wind up with a couple of points rushing and a normal receiving load. He'll be a boom-or-bust flex option.

Packers | Knile Davis works on scout team

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 22:26:58 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis worked with the scout team Wednesday, Oct. 19, while RB Don Jackson and WR Ty Montgomery spent a majority of the practice at running back. "I did scout team, that was good to get my feet wet," Davis said. "I did special teams. It was cool. All day today, all day tomorrow, before the game. (I'll be) trying to learn as much as I can."

Fantasy Tip: It certainly doesn't sound like Davis is in line for a meaningful role in Thursday's game with Chicago. He is worth adding in deeper fantasy leagues, but only as a speculative pick for future weeks if Eddie Lacy and James Starks remain sidelined.
