Detroit Lions news, rumors and injuriesMon, 20 May 2013 17:34:01 -0700 Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is excited RB Reggie Bush signed with the Lions, because it means teams will have to defend the Lions offense differently. "It's going to force them to bring another man down, more than we had last year," Johnson said on Monday. "You know, if you don't, Reggie can make you look foolish in the open field." Fantasy Tip: An improved running game should help the Lions passing game in 2013, and Johnson may be able to get open a bit easier as a result. Johnson still remains the top wide receiver in fantasy football. Share: Lions | Calvin Johnson played with broken fingers Mon, 20 May 2013 07:44:38 -0700 Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (fingers) confirmed he played with broken fingers last season. He has been trying to straighten them out this offseason, but didn't have surgery. Fantasy Tip: Record-breaking season with broken fingers - no big deal. We don't expect this ailment to hinder Johnson as many receivers play through and with broken fingers. Share: Lions | Charles Woodson open to joining team Sun, 19 May 2013 12:28:12 -0700 Free-agent DB Charles Woodson (Packers) said he is willing to sign with the Detroit Lions if he is comfortable with the salary. Share: Lions | Shaun Hill in walking boot Fri, 17 May 2013 16:06:56 -0700 Detroit Lions QB Shaun Hill (foot) has a walking boot on his left foot because he underwent minor surgery to repair a nagging injury. He expects to take part in some of the organized team activities. Share: Lions | Corey Williams unlikely to return Fri, 17 May 2013 16:04:36 -0700 The Detroit Lions likely will not re-sign free-agent DT Corey Williams. Share: Lions | Joique Bell could get more touches in 2013 Fri, 17 May 2013 16:00:49 -0700 Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell could receive more touches at some point this season if RB Mikel Leshoure does not perform well as the complementary back to RB Reggie Bush. Share: Lions | Believe Dominic Raiola best option at C Fri, 17 May 2013 15:50:15 -0700 The Detroit Lions believe C Dominic Raiola is their best option at center entering this season. Share: Lions | Reggie Bush comfortable in offense Fri, 17 May 2013 10:01:45 -0700 Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is comfortable in the team's offense, and he's comparing it to the days when he was with the New Orleans Saints. "I've always enjoyed being in the position that I am and doing what I do, being able to split out wide and catch balls so it's great that offenses are going toward that direction," Bush said. Fantasy Tip: Now that he should be effectively used in the passing attack, Bush could approach RB1 levels in point-per-reception leagues. He proved in Miami that he can be a primary back, too, so Detroit will likely use him as such and leave the short-yardage situations to Mikel Leshoure. Share: Lions | Conroy Black cut Thu, 16 May 2013 17:40:23 -0700 The Detroit Lions have released CB Conroy Black. Share: Lions | See Ryan Broyles as returner Thu, 16 May 2013 12:34:01 -0700 Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said the team drafted WR Ryan Broyles in part because of his return abilities. Share: Lions | Reggie Bush could have special teams role Thu, 16 May 2013 12:32:21 -0700 The Detroit Lions could give RB Reggie Bush a limited role as a punt returner this season. Share: Lions | Two rookies could be used as returners Thu, 16 May 2013 12:24:10 -0700 The Detroit Lions could consider using RB Steven Miller and CB Darius Slay as kick and punt returners this season. Share: Lions | Nick Fairley makes bold statement Thu, 16 May 2013 09:53:44 -0700 Detroit Lions DT Nick Fairley said he and DT Ndamukong Suh are the most dangerous defensive tackle tandem in the league heading into 2013. "Of course," Fairley said. "We're going to give guys trouble, man. It's like pick your poison this year with our defensive line. You cannot come in and double-team Ndamukong and you can't come in and double-team me." Share: Lions | Darius Slay could start Wed, 15 May 2013 19:28:04 -0700 Detroit Lions CB Darius Slay (knee) is expected to compete with CB Bill Bentley (shoulder) for the starting job opposite CB Chris Houston. Slay missed the rookie camp last weekend after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. However, Slay is expected to be ready for training camp. Share: Lions | Bill Bentley hopeful of starting Wed, 15 May 2013 19:27:26 -0700 Detroit Lions CB Bill Bentley (shoulder) is rehabbing from surgery on both of his shoulders, but he is still hopeful of earning a starting job in training camp and the preseason. He isn't quite back to 100 percent with organized team activities (OTAs) starting next week. However, Bentley said Wednesday, May 15, he will be healthy before too long. "I'm going to be there when everybody hits the field," Bentley said. "I'm coming to compete." Share: ![]() |
