Broncos | Mark Sanchez staying focused

Mon, 02 May 2016 13:57:19 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez still views himself as a starting quarterback and believes Denver drafting QB Paxton Lynch was affirmation of his starting status. "Absolutely, that's the message I've received," Sanchez said. "I'm thrilled with the opportunity."

Sanchez hasn't let Lynch or any potential trades change his focus. "I just kind of learned with time, who knows what's going to happen and who cares? What are you supposed to do? Meet your teammates, develop a relationship with them, learn the playbook, get involved in the community, that's it, those three things."

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez is certainly approaching this situation with maturity. He's probably the safer option as a starting quarterback for Denver, at least in 2016. Lynch appears to be the quarterback of the future. Neither Sanchez nor Lynch should be regarded as a starting fantasy quarterback this season, though.

Broncos | Devontae Booker to play early?

Sun, 01 May 2016 18:56:46 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker should push for playing time as a rookie, according to beat writer Jeff Legwold.

Fantasy Tip: Booker figures to be more of a long-term option than Ronnie Hillman, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Booker take over as the third-down back. He is worth a late-round flier in PPR formats.

Broncos | Denver takes Devontae Booker

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 11:12:35 -0700

Former Utah RB Devontae Booker was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 136th pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft Saturday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Booker is of the same running back mold as Ronnie Hillman, and he gives the Broncos more versatility in the backfield. C.J. Anderson will still be the main man, and Hillman will play a significant complementary role, but Booker is a good deep sleeper consideration with more value in PPR formats.

Broncos | No Brian Hoyer for Denver

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 16:11:11 -0700

Free-agent QB Brian Hoyer (Texans) is not a part of the Denver Broncos' immediate plans. The Broncos informed Hoyer Friday, April 29, that they will not be signing him. Denver will stick with three quarterbacks for now because general manager John Elway wants QBs Mark Sanchez, Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian to receive as many repetitions as possible.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez does have the edge right now and is the safer starting option for the Broncos in 2016. It's important for Lynch to become acclimated to Denver's offense and the feel of the NFL this year. Lynch is likely the future of Denver's quarterback position, but his growth process will take some time. Sanchez is not a QB1 and should only be started as a bye-week replacement in good matchups.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch to compete for starting gig

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 20:48:11 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch will compete with QB Mark Sanchez and QB Trevor Siemian for the starting job, according to executive vice president John Elway.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez should be considered the frontrunner to open the year as the starter, but he would be a lower-end QB2. Lynch has intriguing potential in dynasty and keeper leagues, but he may need at least a year to develop.

Broncos | Denver unlikely to pursue big-name QB

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 20:28:33 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford are unlikely to be pursued by the Denver Broncos after the team selected QB Paxton Lynch with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, but Denver could still add a veteran quarterback at some point.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is no lock to start as a rookie, and even if he does beat out Mark Sanchez for the starting gig, he would be a low-end QB2.

Broncos | Denver selects Paxton Lynch

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 20:01:57 -0700

The Denver Broncos selected Memphis QB Paxton Lynch with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft on Thursday, April 28. The Broncos traded up with the Seattle Seahawks for the pick.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch could have the best physical attributes of any of the quarterbacks in this year's draft, and he fits Gary Kubiak's system better than Connor Cook would have. However, Mark Sanchez should still be expected to earn the starting job to start the year, but a change could be made to Lynch if Sanchez struggles. His mental side is in question, which makes him a bit of a wild card in the long term. Lynch won't be anything more than a low-end QB2 if he's playing in his rookie year.

Broncos | Denver looking to move up in first round

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 19:54:07 -0700

The Denver Broncos are looking to move up in the 2016 NFL draft, according to sources. They currently own the 31st overall pick.

Fantasy Tip: Denver has been searching for a quarterback throughout the offseason, and the Broncos could be moving up to address the need in the draft. Any quarterback Denver adds early in the draft would likely compete with Mark Sanchez for the starting job.

Broncos | Von Miller negotiations peaceful

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 10:09:44 -0700

Denver Broncos franchise free-agent LB Von Miller said negotiations on a long-term deal with the Broncos are "just business." "My teammates know what type of teammate I am," Miller said. "They know what type of guy I am. It's just the business part of it. There's really no hard feelings or anything like that. (The Broncos) know what type of guy I am. I'm expecting a deal any day. That's just the type of mindset I have."

Broncos | DEN moving on from Sam Bradford

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 06:45:46 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is an option the Denver Broncos are moving away from because the Broncos don't believe the Eagles are willing to trade him, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is a mid-to-low QB2 with the Eagles but would receive an uptick with a move to the Broncos.

Broncos | Connor Cook of interest to Broncos

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 19:52:54 -0700

Michigan State QB Connor Cook has had a pre-draft visit with the Denver Broncos, and he might be available at the bottom of Round 1 when the team selects at No. 31 overall.

Fantasy Tip: Cook would have a solid stable of receivers like Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders at his disposal if he lands in Denver, and that's good news for his long-term fantasy prospects. However, with veteran Mark Sanchez in town it would likely be a sit-and-learn situation for at least a year.
