Broncos | Peyton Manning decision important

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 11:20:43 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning still has one year remaining on the contract he signed in 2012. His $19 million base salary becomes guaranteed on March 9, and the deal counts $21.5 million against Denver's salary cap. The Broncos' available cap space will be impacted greatly by his decision.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is expected by many to retire, or at least not play with the Broncos next year, but he has about a month before the new league year begins. If Manning chooses to return to football, he should no longer be viewed as a QB1.

Broncos | DeMarcus Ware plans to return

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 20:25:18 -0800

Denver Broncos DE DeMarcus Ware said Monday, Feb. 8, that he intends to continue playing. He is entering the final year of his contract. "I got a lot of gas in the tank," Ware said. "(Von Miller) was the one that added the gas to the fire for me, so that's why I'm playing the way I'm playing right now. I don't think about retiring."

Broncos | Owen Daniels considering retirement

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 16:58:36 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Owen Daniels has admitted that he will think about retirement after winning Super Bowl 50. "Of course, of course. That's definitely an option," Daniels told USA TODAY Sports. "But I'm a man of my word, I signed a three-year deal, so I'd like to keep playing. I feel good enough as long as I can get some work done on my 33-year-old knees." He has no more meniscus in his left knee, but his right knee caused him more pain during the 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Daniels would like to return if he's healthy entering training camp and the start of the 2016 season. He's very comfortable with Gary Kubiak's offense, so that goes a long way. However, with Denver's quarterback situation in flux now, there's no guarantee he'll be anymore productive next year. He's more of a safe TE2 in fantasy leagues if he comes back.

Broncos | Similarities between Elway, Manning

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 13:31:39 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning and general manager John Elway were both drafted first overall by the Baltimore Colts/Indianapolis Colts and they both won 14 playoff games and two Super Bowls.

Fantasy Tip: They're the two oldest quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl, too. Manning is expected to retire after winning Super Bowl last night, but him returning to football shouldn't be completely ruled out. If Manning does retire, then Brock Osweiler would likely be re-signed and become starter for the Broncos. He wouldn't be in QB1 territory just yet, though.

Broncos | Possible financials for Von Miller deal

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 12:02:10 -0800

Denver Broncos LB Von Miller is expected to negotiate a long-term deal with the Broncos this offseason. That deal could be similar to the six-year, $101 million deal Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston signed last year. Houston's deal also came with $52.5 million guaranteed.

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 10:33:28 -0800

Denver Broncos DE DeMarcus Ware, who finished the Super Bowl 50 win with two sacks, four quarterback hits and two tackles for loss, said he isn't ready to retire at age 33. "I got a lot of gas in the tank," Ware replied. "Von was the one that added the gas to the fire for me, so that's why I'm playing the way I'm playing right now. I don't think about retiring. God still wants me to play, that's why I'm still doing what I'm doing. Ware is entering the final year of his contract in 2016.

Broncos | Peyton Manning not rushing decision

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 09:48:13 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will not rush to make a decision about retirement after winning Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers, but he said "I'll be at peace, whichever way it goes." Manning's mother, Olivia, said she would like Peyton to retire and go out on top.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a shock to us all if Manning decided to come back after winning his second Super Bowl ring. He really has nothing left to prove. If he does return, it's unlikely to be with the Broncos, making life even more difficult for him. He'd be a really shaky fantasy backup if he's back in 2016.
