If Marshall doesn't report for the beginning of camp, the team still expects Marshall to eventually show up. The Broncos know they hold all the cards. If Marshall doesn't show up in 2009, he won't be paid. A prospective free agent in 2010, there is little chance Marshall will risk missing an entire season.

He can succeed in a role as a traditional running back and also help in the passing game as a blocker or a receiving back. "His body is young," McDaniels said. "He just might be, as a matter of fact, I think he is, our fastest back. He's got a great burst and he's got a great long speed," McDaniels said.

Marshall posted a farewell blog Tuesday, June 16. He wrote the hardest thing was hearing team owner Pat Bowlen wishing him luck in the future. "We both came to the conclusion that this is probably the best thing for me to grow on and off the field," Marshall wrote. His agent, Kennard McGuire, told FOX31-TV in Denver that Bowlen has said the team's ownership will do everything in its power to accommodate Marshall's wishes to be traded.

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the agent for Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall, Kennard McGuire, did confirm Tuesday, June 16, to ESPN's Michael Smith that Marshall asked team owner Pat Bowlen for a trade during a meeting Friday, June 12. "There was a meeting with Mr. Bowlen and Brandon did ask to be traded. He was told by ownership that the team would do everything in its power to accommodate those wishes. We do feel that a change of scenery is not only important but necessary." According to a source, Smith reported, Marshall has met with Bowlen more than once in the past week and on both occasions expressed his desire to be dealt.

He has stayed away from the team's voluntary minicamps the past three weeks because of medical trust and contract issues. Participation for their minicamp this weekend is mandatory. Marshall is in the final year of his contract, which will pay him $2.198 million this season. He may not be eligible for unrestricted free agency after the year unless a new CBA is reached. Marshall, a fourth-year player, would become a restricted free agent if a new CBA doesn't happen.

However, he still does not know what his role will be within the offense. After being selected No. 12 overall, he will probably get a lot of touches. Moreno has been running behind RBs LaMont Jordan and Correll Buckhalter in practice. Moreno said he is just learning and is trying to find his place with the team. He is learning the playbook, so practices are starting to slow down for him because he understands the offense better. By training camp, Moreno should be ready to move up the depth chart. He plans to keep working on pass protection, catching the ball, running routes and reading defenses.
