Denver Broncos news, rumors and injuries
Tue, 24 Nov 2015 13:51:58 -0800
Denver Broncos QB Brock Osweiler took 52 of 69 offensive snaps in Week 11 under center, and he didn't turn the ball over once. He'll be facing a New England Patriots defense in Week 12 that has given up an NFL-low 182 points this year, and they are allowing just 14 points per game in their last four contests. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is 11-4 against rookie quarterbacks in his career.
Fantasy Tip: It won't be easy sledding for Osweiler ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) in his second career start against the Patriots. The smart money says you should avoid Osweiler as a sleeper play on FantasyScore.

Denver Broncos DE DeMarcus Ware (back) missed his second straight game in Week 11, and head coach Gary Kubiak said Monday, Nov. 23, that he did not have any inclination on whether Ware would be able to practice much this week.

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) is dealing with a high-ankle sprain. Sanders hopes to play in Week 12, and added that Monday, Nov. 23, was the first day he didn't limp since suffering the injury. Sanders will be evaluated Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.
Fantasy Tip: Sanders' participation in practice this week will be telling as to his recovery and availability. Needless to say, his status will need to be monitored all week. If he misses another game, Cody Latimer should see an uptick in targets.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is expected to be able to take the field again this season; he simply needs some time to recover from the plantar fascia he's dealing with. In the meantime, Brock Osweiler will start and should be viewed as a QB2.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear just how long Manning will remain sidelined; perhaps a second opinion will make his timetable clear. For now, Brock Osweiler will start in his place, but Manning is expected to return this season if/when he's healthy enough to do so.

Denver Broncos QB Brock Osweiler is not Denver's permanent starting quarterback for the rest of the season, according to sources. QB Peyton Manning (foot) is expected to start again once he is healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Osweiler performed well enough in Week 11 to earn another start in Week 12. Of course, the fact that Manning isn't 100% doesn't hurt his chances. Osweiler's matchup with the New England Patriots is decent, but he shouldn't be your first choice at quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Osweiler was serviceable to his fantasy owners that took a chance on him in his starting debut against the Chicago Bears. He has the physical skills to succeed in Gary Kubiak's offense, but the Patriots and master planner Bill Belichick will be a tough matchup for the youngster. We don't recommend using him on FantasyScore in his second career start.

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer was on the field for 36 offensive snaps in the team's Week 11 game, which was more than WRs Andre Caldwell, Bennie Fowler and Jordan Norwood. Latimer is more comfortable working with QB Brock Osweiler since they have practiced together over the last two seasons. Latimer finished the game with two catches for 22 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy Tip: Latimer likely will lose some of his work once Emmanuel Sanders is able to return to the lineup but should be a candidate for the No. 3 receiver job since he has chemistry with Osweiler. Latimer probably is not a starting option at this point, but owners may want to keep an eye on him.

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) is "absolutely determined" to get himself healthy, a source with knowledge of the situation said Sunday, Nov. 22. Manning firmly believes he will be able to play again this season. In addition, he currently intends to play in 2016, even if it will not be with the Broncos, the source said.
Fantasy Tip: Manning has proven his detractors wrong before, but he is getting long in the tooth and the injuries are piling up. However, are you willing to bet against him?

Fantasy Tip: Hillman has been a bit inconsistent over the last few weeks but will continue to receive a majority of the carries for the Broncos. He will be facing a New England Patriots defense that plays well against opposing running backs, which makes him a risky option for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Osweiler played well in his first start of the season and did not turn the ball over. He should continue to be the starter for the time being and may be a possible sleeper option against the New England Patriots in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Sanders' ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) deactivation comes as surprising news, after it appeared as though he was going to be given the green light to suit up versus the Bears. Remove him from all fantasy lineups immediately.
