Denver Broncos news, rumors and injuries

The Denver Broncos defense has forced a three-and-out for a punt on 30.4 percent of possessions by opposing offenses after 14 games, which leads the league. "You always want to get off the field," DT Terrance Knighton said. "It helps now that we're running the ball more on offense, because we're a little fresher when we get back out there. Maybe it hurts guys like Von (Miller) and DeMarcus (Ware) who, if we were on the field more, they'd probably be fighting for the sack lead ... But everybody on this defense wants to just win so for me, for everybody, let's get a three-and-out and get off the field."

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (thigh) was officially limited in practice Friday, Dec. 19, but he threw more than he did than the day prior, and he threw in individual drills. Manning is on track to play in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Dec. 22. "He's improving, I thought he had good work out there (Friday)," said head coach John Fox.
Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,800) isn't expected to miss this crucial AFC prime-time showdown. However, we caution FantasyScore players to spend on Manning, since this sets up as another game in which Denver will rely on the run to get them a win.

Fantasy Tip: Both Thomases should be on the field Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Demaryius Thomas ($8,100) is the safer play, even if the Broncos continue to run the ball more. Julius Thomas ($6,500) could be getting closer to 100 percent health, but he remains a bit of a risk until we see results on the field.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($3,500) is getting closer to a return to the field, but it remains to be seen if he can play Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Regardless, C.J. Anderson ($7,600) is the guy to start at FantasyScore. If Hillman is playing, he probably won't see enough touches to be relevant in daily games.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) will start against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night, and he remains a nice play at FantasyScore despite having down outings the last two weeks. The Bengals have been very generous to opposing runners all season long.

Denver Broncos OT Paul Cornick (toe) and LB Brandon M. Marshall (foot) did not practice Friday, Dec. 19. OT Ryan Clady (thigh), C Will Montgomery (knee), RB Juwan Thompson (hip, knee) and CB Kayvon Webster (shoulder) were limited, while OT Chris Clark (back), WR Cody Latimer (concussion) and TE Jacob Tamme (rib cage) practiced in full.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' FantasyScore price has dropped since his injury, and he now costs just $6,500. It may be the time to take a chance on him again in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals if he's back to full health.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,800) will be fine to play Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, but we question how good of a FantasyScore QB he'll be if the Broncos continue to run the ball way more than they throw it.
Thu, 18 Dec 2014 16:14:46 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,800) should be good to go for Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, his FantasyScore price seems a bit high these days with the Broncos favoring the run in recent weeks.
Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:47:51 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($6,500, 13%) hasn't scored since Week 10 and is somewhat of a liability on FantasyScore nowadays with the team's increased focus on the running game.
Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:32:23 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Both Thomases' fantasy values have been hurting recently because of the Broncos' lack of passing lately. Julius Thomas ($6,500) has seen his FantasyScore salary drop due to injury, too. Starting Julius Thomas probably is still a bit of a risk, but it was nice to see him play more snaps in Week 15. Demaryius Thomas ($8,100) may be too expensive for our taste if the Broncos continue to favor the running game.
Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:30:02 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) has faded a tad over the last two games against capable teams against the rush. Monday night in Cincinnati should present a good chance to use him again at FantasyScore, though. The Bengals allow the fifth most fantasy points to running backs (22.09) per game this season.
Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:27:30 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,800) didn't do much today as the team has an extra day of rest before their Monday night tilt against the Cincinnati Bengals. The extra day to rest should do Manning well, but the team's move to a more run-centered game has faded his fantasy allure. Manning's price tag at FantasyScore seems a bit too pricey right now.
Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:21:30 -0800
Fantasy Tip: There's a chance Hillman ($3,500) can return to action Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he's likely to be behind C.J. Anderson for touches in the backfield. Still, Hillman could be worth a look as a deep sleeper at a FantasyScore flex spot if he's active.
