Broncos | Trevor Siemian had Grade 5 separation

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 17:36:38 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (shoulder) was diagnosed with a Grade 5 left shoulder separation by Dr. Neal ElAttrache after undergoing surgery in early January. It had been previously reported Siemian had a Grade 3 separation in the AC joint.

Fantasy Tip: Siemian's timeline hasn't changed, as he is still expected to need four to six months to completely recover. He is expected to be limited when the Broncos begin their offseason conditioning program in April, but it appears he could be ready for the team's OTAs, which begin in May and land right in the middle of his recovery timetable. Siemian is projected to start over Paxton Lynch again in 2017, but both could face competition from a free-agent signing.

Broncos | Denver the favorite to sign Tony Romo

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 15:39:29 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is expected to be released this offseason. If he is released, the Denver Broncos are considered the frontrunners to sign the veteran quarterback, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: Romo will certainly be an upgrade if he is signed by Denver, but the offensive line remains a significant question mark. Romo's injury history has been well documented and he may not be able to last a full season behind Denver's soft line. If the Broncos sign Romo and Romo is fully healthy, he'll be a low-end QB1 to high-end QB2 candidate in fantasy drafts.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson should be cleared soon

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 13:33:48 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is expected to be cleared from his knee surgery in two weeks, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Just how involved Anderson will be in offseason activities remains to be seen, but he should be at least close to full go by the time offseason activities commence. Anderson figures to the Broncos' main running back again this season, but he'll need to beat out Devontae Booker and possibly others this offseason. If he does retain the starting position, he'll be an RB2 consideration.

Broncos | Denver to discuss Tony Romo if released

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 10:40:36 -0800

The Denver Broncos are expected to "at least discuss" Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo if he is released, according to 9News Denver's Mike Klis.

Fantasy Tip: Denver has been widely speculated as a potential landing spot for Romo, so Klis isn't breaking news here. The Broncos have the playmakers and championship-ready team Romo desires, but their offensive line is a far cry from the Cowboys' front five, which would make him even more of an injury risk than he already is. If the veteran quarterback does eventually land in Denver, he would be a very serviceable QB2 for as long as he can stay healthy.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas remains consistent

Sat, 25 Feb 2017 21:04:26 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas ranked in the top 15 in the NFL in both receptions and receiving yards in 2016, and he has caught at least 90 passes and topped 1,000 yards in each of the last five years.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a lackluster quarterback situation, Thomas still managed to put together a solid campaign. Even if Denver's quarterback play remains shaky, you can at least count on Thomas sneaking into WR2 territory.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian optimistic

Sat, 25 Feb 2017 18:45:28 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (shoulder) is out of his sling and is optimistic he will be ready for OTAs, but an exam next month will help determine an exact timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: If healthy, Siemian should have a great chance at breaking camp as Denver's starter. If he does start in 2017, he should be viewed as a QB2.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian likely out until camp

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 12:02:48 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (shoulder) is unlikely to practice fully until training camp as he recovers left shoulder surgery, according to Brandon Stokley of 104.3 The Fan.

Fantasy Tip: Siemian is expected to be ready for OTAs, but it is obvious the Broncos will exercise extreme caution with him after 2016 first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch looked overwhelmed in limited action as a rookie last season. The uncertainly atop Denver's depth chart heading into free agency may be enough to convince the front office to sign a capable veteran backup. Siemian is a middling fantasy QB2 at best.
