Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is averaging 3.4 yards per carry this season, and the team is averaging almost 42 fewer rushing yards per game than a year ago. Ball said Monday, Sept. 22, that the team will focus on fixing the run game heading into the bye week. "Right now, we need a lot of work on it," Ball said. "It starts up front, starts with the tight ends, and with the running backs too. Collectively, we all need to sit down and focus on it, and I believe we will."
Fantasy Tip: Peyton Manning and the Denver passing attack have remained stout this season so it seems like only a matter of time before Ball starts to put up some big numbers. However, the Broncos return to action in Week 5 against an Arizona team that has stuffed the run this season so any improvements that Ball and company make in the off week may not pay immediate dividends.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas finished with four catches for just 31 yards in the team's Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but QB Peyton Manning targeted him nine times in the game. Thomas dropped a pass and had a big gain taken back by a penalty. He has caught nine passes for 110 yards and a touchdown through three games this year, and he has been very inconsistent so far. "I really can't tell. It was a fast game," said Thomas when asked if the Seahawks' coverage led to his decreased numbers. "I had an opportunity to make plays and didn't. I feel like I had my chances. I have to make my plays. Two plays that I had my hands on the ball, they broke up. But I feel like I have to come down with those." He continues to say that contract talks haven't been a distraction. Thomas also dealt with foot and ankle issues in Week 3, but he refused to use it as an excuse.
Fantasy Tip: It's been a slow start for Thomas, but you'll have to remain patient in standard leagues. He has a Week 4 bye and then has a tough matchup against the outstanding corners of the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (foot) left the Week 3 game in the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks due to a foot injury. He has reportedly been dealing with the injury for a while. He limped off, was evaluated by the training staff, and was able to return.
Fantasy Tip: Thomas' injury is one to watch. If he cannot make it through the rest of the game, Emmanuel Sanders and Julius Thomas might pick up a few extra targets.

Fantasy Tip: Welker ($3,700; 7.4% of your cap) is a bargain buy on FantasyScore this week, but one has to wonder how much he'll produce as the fourth or fifth option in the offense.

Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (concussion) has practiced with the team all week and is ready to play in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. He practiced in full all week, and he's listed as probable for Sunday, Sept. 21. "It's been great," head coach John Fox said of Welker's work this week. "He's a veteran guy that attacks preparation, and he's had a great week." Welker is expected to play, but he may not see a normal number of snaps as he would have if he had practiced more with the team before his suspension.
Fantasy Tip: You won't have to decide whether to spend on Welker at FantasyScore this week, since he's not eligible. However, he should be in all standard league rosters this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: McManus should play in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. You could do worse at place kicker than McManus at FantasyScore.

Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (concussion) practiced with the team Wednesday, Sept. 17, which was his first on-field work since Labor Day, and he said he was cleared medically "about a week or so ago." "I appreciate their concern, I do," Welker said. "But at the same time, I feel great. I feel sharp and ready to go." Head coach John Fox said that Welker's suspension, from a health perspective, may have been a "blessing in disguise" for Welker.
Fantasy Tip: Welker's health is great news. He probably won't be overworked in his first game back against the Seattle Seahawks, though, especially since the team has their bye in Week 4. He won't be eligible to play in your lineup at FantasyScore this weekend, either.
