Broncos | Aqib Talib won't be suspended

Tue, 18 Apr 2017 09:38:29 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib will not be suspended for his alleged role in a 2016 shooting incident, according to a source. The NFL has closed its investigation.

Fantasy Tip: While Talib isn't much of a fantasy contributor in his own right, this is great news for the overall worth of the Broncos defense as a fantasy unit. It surely did not need another major personnel hit this offseason. Denver has low-end No. 1 defense appeal in typical leagues.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch's work habits not in question?

Sun, 16 Apr 2017 12:00:59 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch received a public show of support for his work ethic Sunday, April 16 - not long after DallasCowboys.com writer Bryan Broaddus said in a radio interview some of his sources questioned his work ethic and study habits. Mike Klis of 9 News Denver called Broaddus' claims "inappropriate and false".

Fantasy Tip: Klis suggests Broaddus is speaking for the Cowboys because it is well known Dallas wanted Lynch in the draft last spring. Whether Broaddus' sources are right or wrong, Lynch has some work to do in order to overtake Trevor Siemian and earn the starting job many expected he would have locked down by now.

Broncos | Work ethic an issue for Paxton Lynch?

Sun, 16 Apr 2017 11:10:02 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch is reportedly having trouble "buying in" to things like an "early in, late out" attitude, according to DallasCowboys.com writer Bryan Broaddus, who spoke with some of his sources in Denver recently.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch was considered a project coming out of the draft last spring, so he was already behind the curve. With that said, he looked far from ready in limited game action as a rookie, and this report - if true - would go a long way in explaining why that was the case. Nevertheless, Lynch will have his chance to silence the critics this summer as he battles Trevor Siemian for the starting job in camp.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch working on footwork

Sat, 15 Apr 2017 13:10:54 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch has been working on improving his footwork this offseason and hopes to win the starting quarterback job during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch received limited playing time as a rookie and posted 497 yards, two touchowns and one interception in 2016. Trevor Siemian may have an edge at this point of the competition, but Lynch will have a chance if he plays well during the preseason. Fantasy owners should consider the Broncos starter a No. 2 quarterback no matter who wins the competition.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian wants faster release

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 12:54:14 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian admitted that he needs to throw the ball sooner in order to protect himself.

Fantasy Tip: Siemian is still quite young and was in his first season as a starting quarterback last year, so we'll give him a pass. He'll need to fend off Paxton Lynch to make it as a starter in 2017, and whoever starts should not be drafted as a QB1.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas seeking more YAC

Tue, 11 Apr 2017 20:35:48 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said one reason he is looking forward to playing under offensive coordinator Mike McCoy again is because of his more frequent use of wide receiver screen passes, which will increase his yards after the catch totals. Thomas previously ranked in the top-two among receivers in yards after the catch in 2012 and 2013, but without McCoy, those numbers dropped significantly. This past season, Thomas had 336 yards after the catch, ranking him 25th among receivers.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been one of the steadiest receivers around, hauling in at least 90 receptions and registering more than 1,000 yards in each of the last five seasons. That's basically as consistent as it gets, but the fact remains that the seven-year veteran is coming off a campaign that saw him put up his fewest catches (90) and yards (1,083) since that streak first began. The return of McCoy figures to provide Thomas with a boost, so his stat line from a year ago could be viewed as his floor for the 2017 season.
