Broncos | Gino Gradkowski could start

Wed, 01 Apr 2015 13:14:03 -0700

Denver Broncos C Gino Gradkowski will have a chance to win the starting center job in 2015. Gradkowski struggled the last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, but with head coach Gary Kubiak using a zone-blocking scheme, perhaps the new coaching staff sees something they like in Gradkowski. C Matt Paradis is the only other center under roster right now in Denver.

Broncos | Bradley Roby in line for bigger role

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 16:07:39 -0700

Denver Broncos CB Bradley Roby could be in line for even more playing time in 2015 after the team relied heavily on him in his rookie season in 2014. The new coaching staff is already considering way to get Roby in the team's base defense in the new 3-4 defensive scheme. Roby could see some work at safety, too, with FS Rahim Moore departing in free agency. Roby is willing to play any position, and he finished last year as the team's third leading tackler.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas' ankle fine

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 16:05:52 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, Achilles') took "about a month" to recover from an ankle/Achilles' injury that he suffered last December. Thomas said his ankle will be fine this offseason. "Ankle will be fine, I could go out and run routes right now if I had to," Thomas said. "But I don't want to have any pain, I'm pretty sure I'll be good in another month or so, with the Achilles', I'll be fine, I'll be great."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is an elite NFL receiver that should be taken early in fantasy football drafts in 2015. Having Peyton Manning back for another season solidifies Thomas' standing as one of the most valuable fantasy receivers.

Broncos | Michael Schofield a candidate for RT

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 15:09:14 -0700

Denver Broncos OT Michael Schofield has added weight this offseason and is prepared to compete for the starting job at right tackle in 2015. Schofield wasn't active for a single game last season. He is weighing 305 pounds now after dipping to 289 pounds after an illness and the death of his aunt in 2014. Head coach Gary Kubiak has mentioned Schofield with the void at right tackle this offseason, and Kubiak's zone-blocking system could help Schofield's learning curve after he learned the system in college.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas will miss workouts

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 11:12:25 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas will not be present at the Broncos' offseason program or attend workouts with QB Peyton Manning at Duke University. Thomas is currently in Los Angeles for a charity event.

Fantasy Tip: Not much to take away from this news. As long as Thomas is healthy heading into training camp, there's no reason to think he shouldn't be considered a top-five fantasy wide receiver this season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson enters OTAs as starter

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 04:16:09 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will open OTAs in April as the starter, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson totaled 1,173 yards from scrimmage and put an end to the Broncos' endless woes at running back, at least for the second half of the season. A lot could change between OTAs and camp, but for now keep an eye on Anderson as he could go in higher rounds as a legitimate RB1 or RB2.

Broncos | Denver RB competition fierce

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 16:25:20 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson, who finished 2014 with 648 rushing yards in the last six games, will enter the 2015 season at the top of the running back depth chart, according to new head coach Gary Kubiak. However, competition will be fierce for touches in training camp, with RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman still around. Ball vowed "to get back my job" at the end of last season after landing on the Injured Reserve. Hillman is a wild card, and he has yet to top 106 carries in any one season. RB Juwan Thompson is a possibility as a fullback/running back hybrid.

Fantasy Tip: Because of what he did last year, Anderson is the favorite to be the bell-cow back in Kubiak's system, which has produced plenty of successful runners. Anderson will likely be overvalued in 2015 fantasy football drafts, but he could be the X-factor on your roster, depending on whether he can hold off the other runners in Denver.

Broncos | Peyton Manning to play less in 2015?

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:20:47 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning may not play as much as usual next season in order to give him more rest. Head coach Gary Kubiak has indicated that he will tailor the offense to benefit Manning, including running the ball more. Subsequently, QB Brock Osweiler could see more playing time if Manning's playing time is adjusted. Kubiak said he's impressed with how excited Osweiler is and knows he wants to play a part in the Broncos' offense. Kubiak said Osweiler's opportunity to play will come at some point. "I always tell young players nobody knows if you're taking care of your business until you're thrown in the fire."

Fantasy Tip: Manning has been an elite fantasy quarterback almost his entire career and he should still be considered as such. That being said, at age 39, he may not offer as much value as he has in previous seasons, especially with a new offense that will probably see the Broncos run the ball more often. Again, Manning should still be considered a top-tier fantasy quarterback as long as he's healthy.

Broncos | Denver wants Cody Latimer to be No. 3

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 18:25:04 -0700

The Denver Broncos plan to use WR Cody Latimer as the third receiver behind WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders in 2015. "I think it's time for him to make a big jump," head coach Gary Kubiak said. "Not just a little jump. Obviously his play time is fixing to pick up, and it needs to pick up, so we need him to make a big jump in year two."

Fantasy Tip: Latimer could be a nice late-round fantasy sleeper who pays huge dividends if he makes the time of jump Kubiak expects. Being the third receiver in most systems means so-so fantasy value, but in Denver's pass-happy offense Latimer could push for 700 yards and a handful of scores if he lives up to expectations.

Broncos | Prefer Shelley Smith at LG

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 18:24:12 -0700

The Denver Broncos want to use OG Shelley Smith at left guard, although he is able to play center as well. The preference for head coach Gary Kubiak is to keep Smith at guard.

Broncos | Brandon Marshall slowly healing

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 18:23:46 -0700

Denver Broncos LB Brandon M. Marshall (foot) is still recovering from a Lisfranc sprain in his right foot, and he might not be available until the start of training camp. LBs Lamin Barrow, Todd Davis, Steven Johnson, Corey Nelson and Reggie Walker will see plenty of time during the offseason program with Marshall on the shelf.
