Fantasy Tip: Escobar, a former second-round pick, has never delivered on his draft position, and it looks as though he may be edged out for a roster spot. Odds are someone would take a look at him given his physical credentials (6-foot-6, 260 pounds), but he's of no interest for fantasy owners.

Fantasy Tip: When healthy, McFadden will likely play second fiddle to Ezekiel Elliott in 2016. He was one of only seven running backs to run for at least 1,000 yards last season, but his injury history and status as a backup are too much to make him more than a deep flier.

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez is not a trade option for the Dallas Cowboys if they have to accept his current contract. The Broncos have approached the Cowboys about a possible trade involving Sanchez.
Fantasy Tip: Sanchez could be more of an option for the Cowboys if he is released by the Broncos. Sanchez will be a backup no matter where he plays this season and will not be a fantasy option unless he starts.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) will be wearing a back brace during his recovery from the compression fracture in his vertebra. Head coach Jason Garrett is not giving a timetable for Romo's return.
Fantasy Tip: Romo is not expected to return to the lineup until at least midseason, so owners should monitor his progress over the next few weeks. Owners could consider selecting Romo in the late rounds of drafts and stashing him on their bench, but he probably will go undrafted in many leagues. Dak Prescott should be the starting quarterback for the Cowboys for the time being and can be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has a few weeks to recover from the concussion, so he should have a decent chance to be ready for Week 1. Bryant's value will take a hit because of Tony Romo's injury but should still be a weekly starting option in all fantasy leagues as a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver.

Updating a previous story, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is expected to miss six to 10 weeks with a compression fracture of his L1 vertebra in his back. Per sources, Romo is not expected to need surgery. Head coach Jason Garrett refused to rule him out for the team's season opener against the New York Giants on Sept. 11 and did not confirm whether or not this injury is related to the transverse process injury the oft-injured quarterback suffered in 2014.
Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott with an eye on keeping Romo upright, and he'll be asked to carry even more of the offense on his shoulders now because Dallas will turn to fellow rookie Dak Prescott, who has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the preseason. Romo should go undrafted in virtually all leagues that don't have an IR spot, while Prescott can be drafted as a high-upside (but low-end) QB2. Elliott should be the offensive focus even more now than he was expected to be and is a high-end RB1.

Fantasy Tip: Romo is easily in backup fantasy quarterback territory with the injury, and he may even be considered undraftable. Dak Prescott has looked like a natural in the preseason and will be thrown to the wolves immediately. He's not in QB1 territory, but he's not the worst backup and should be claimed off waivers this week, especially by those who drafted Romo.
