Browns | Josh McCown to miss several weeks

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 07:10:33 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) is expected to need two to four weeks to recover from a broken collarbone in his non-throwing shoulder. He wanted to harness the left shoulder and continue playing but the team denied his request.

Fantasy Tip: QB Cody Kessler will serve as the team's interim starter, with QB Charlie Whitehurst backing him up. Both players possess little fantasy value, although Kessler could be useful as a bench player in cavernous seasonal leagues.

Browns | Isaiah Crowell expected to remain lead back

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 09:47:53 -0700

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell "looked more explosive than ever last week", according to ESPN's Pat McManamon, who went on to say he believes Crowell will remain "the main guy" with Duke Johnson serving as the change-of-pace back.

Fantasy Tip: Although Crowell ranks fifth in the league with 195 yards rushing, it's been well-documented how fluky most of those yards have been, as 40 of them came on three draw plays at the end of a blowout loss in Week 1 and 85 more came on a complete defensive bust last week. With Cody Kessler expected to lead the offense for the next two months, the entire offense is most likely doomed. Since he provides very little in the passing game, it is highly unlikely Crowell will be anything more than a middling flex in a few weeks.

Browns | Cleveland signs Cody Parkey

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 06:53:16 -0700

The Cleveland Browns have signed free-agent PK Cody Parkey (Eagles). In a corresponding move, PK Patrick Murray (knee) has been placed on injured reserve.

Fantasy Tip: After earning a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2014, Parkey missed the bulk of the 2015 season due to a groin injury and hasn't displayed the same effectiveness since returning, so he should not be considered a strong fantasy option.

Browns | Cody Parkey expected to be signed

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 06:07:16 -0700

The Cleveland Browns are expected to sign free-agent PK Cody Parkey (Eagles), according to a league source. PK Patrick Murray (knee) injured his left knee during the team's walkthrough Friday, Sept. 23, and he is listed as questionable on the injury report for Week 3's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Although Parkey made the Pro Bowl in 2014, he missed most of the 2015 season due to a groin injury and hasn't been the same player since. He should not be viewed as a great fantasy option at this point.

Browns | Patrick Murray's status in question

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 15:21:40 -0700

Cleveland Browns PK Patrick Murray (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Murray may be a game-time decision for Week 3, so owners will need to check the inactive list. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use.

Browns | Andrew Hawkins to start

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 11:35:47 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Andrew Hawkins will take WR Corey Coleman's (hand) spot in the starting lineup, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Fantasy Tip: Hawkins has been targeted six times over the first two games of the season but should be more involved in the passing game with Coleman out. Hawkins probably can be avoided in most leagues because of the team's quarterback situation.

Browns | Corey Coleman out 4-6 weeks

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 06:16:34 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) will miss four to six weeks, but he won't require surgery on his broken hand.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns' offense is in dire straits until Josh Gordon returns. Andrew Hawkins could slide into the starting role and be a flex consideration against the Miami Dolphins this week.

Browns | Corey Coleman likely out weeks

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 05:31:33 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) will visit a specialist to determine how long he'll miss due to his broken hand, but the best-case scenario is a few weeks.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns' offense is a hot mess until Josh Gordon returns. Andrew Hawkins could slide into the starting role and be a flex consideration against the Miami Dolphins this week.
