Browns | Isaiah Crowell to reach 1,300 yards?

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 19:46:56 -0700

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell is capable of a 1,300-yard season in 2017, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, because of upgrades to the offensive line and an improved defense that should keep games closer.

Fantasy Tip: Crowell almost ran for 1,000 yards last season, and he looks set to see most of the early-down work this year. He should at least be a quality flex play, and Crowell could be a sneaky RB2.

Browns | Seth DeValve impressive during spring

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 09:13:09 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Seth DeValve "jumped out" in spring practices as one of the most improved players from 2016, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.

Fantasy Tip: Cabot, fellow beat writer Nate Ulrich and head coach Hue Jackson have all hyped the second-year tight end over the last month, so owners would be wise to keep tabs on him going forward. With Cleveland's wide receiver corps average at best and rookie tight end that David Njoku probably not ready for prime time right away, DeValve is someone who could be this year's Cameron Brate or Jack Doyle and come out of nowhere to be a top-15 tight end.

Browns | DeShone Kizer could play early

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 08:18:44 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer could play early in the season as beat writer, Mary Kay Cabot, believes head coach Hue Jackson wants to throw Kizer into the fire and let him learn on the fly. With an improved defense and running game, Jackson could devise gameplans to take some of the pressure off Kizer early on. Kizer will have to perform in the preseason to win the job.

Fantasy Tip: Kizer has tools, and there is always the possibility of a rookie making a big splash like Dak Prescott last year or RG III several years ago. However, the supporting cast around Kizer doesn't provide as much excitement as some of the other successful rookies in previous years. He could be worth a flyer as a backup if you land a stud QB, but he's better served in dynasty formats.

Browns | Cody Kessler could be placeholder

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 07:53:33 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler could begin the season as the starter, but he doesn't fit the mold head coach Hue Jackson likes as a starting quarterback, according to beat writer Mary Kat Cabot. Jackson likes a tall, mobile quarterback with a big arm and quick decision-making skills. Kessler falls below Jackson's 6-foot-2 threshold and doesn't have the deep-ball skills Jackson covets.

Fantasy Tip: Kessler will have to hold off DeShone Kizer in camp, and it's possible he could beat out the rookie. Kessler has improved his arm strength this offseason. However, Kessler doesn't have a lot of fantasy appeal except in deeper two-QB leagues.

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 11:52:22 -0700

Cleveland Browns WRs Rashard Higgins and Ricardo Louis have made big strides this offseason, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. Both will compete for playing time behind WRs Kenny Britt and Corey Coleman.

Browns | Cleveland QB battle a two-man race?

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 11:46:42 -0700

Cleveland Browns QBs Cody Kessler and DeShone Kizer are in an apparent two-man race for the starting quarterback position, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Kessler and Kizer split first-team repetitions throughout minicamp, with QB Brock Osweiler working with the second team. Furthermore, Cabot expects head coach Hue Jackson to name a starter shortly after the preseason begins.

Fantasy Tip: Quarterback competitions are usually enticing, but it's hard to be excited about the Browns' current situation at the position. Kessler seems to have a slight edge on the rookie Kizer, but who knows how this will play out during training camp and the preseason. All three can be avoided in traditional leagues.

Browns | Shon Coleman could start at tackle

Sun, 09 Jul 2017 06:06:55 -0700

Browns | Joe Schobert could see fewer snaps

Sun, 09 Jul 2017 05:59:19 -0700

Cleveland Browns LB Joe Schobert is likely to see reduced snaps in 2017, especially if the team uses a nickel defense scheme most of the time. LBs Christian Kirksey and Jamie Collins are expected to start, meaning Schobert's biggest impact could come on special teams, in the opinion of The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Dan Labbe.

Browns | David Njoku impressing

Sat, 08 Jul 2017 18:48:37 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku caught everything thrown his way during OTAs, and QB DeShone Kizer said Njoku is an athletic "freak" and an easy target to throw to.

Fantasy Tip: Njoku is raw, but he should still see plenty of reps as a rookie thanks to a lack of competition. He is worth a flier in the final rounds of redraft leagues, and he needs to be stashed in all keeper formats.

Browns | Ricardo Louis continues to draw praise

Sat, 08 Jul 2017 08:49:29 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Ricardo Louis has "really helped himself" and "is a talented young man," according to senior offensive assistant Al Saunders.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Hue Jackson was similarly impressed throughout the spring, and so it would be surprising at this point if Louis isn't the No. 3 receiver in Cleveland behind Corey Coleman and Kenny Britt when the season begins. He's off the radar in fantasy, however.

Browns | DeShone Kizer noticeably improved in spring

Sun, 02 Jul 2017 10:28:04 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer made the "biggest leap" of all the team's quarterbacks during off-season practices, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. Kizer has a better deep ball and his accuracy and touch have improved under head coach Hue Jackson and quarterbacks coach David Lee, according to Cabot.

Fantasy Tip: Cody Kessler appears to be a slight favorite to win the starting job, but Kizer and Brock Osweiler figure to be close behind. The rookie possesses the most upside by a wide margin, so it is possible he will end up making starts sooner than later if Kessler struggles out of the gate. If he does, he has QB2 upside in redraft leagues.
