Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown has $6.25 million in guarantees in his three-year deal, and he'll make $5.25 million in 2015. The value of his deal is $14 million with the chance to make $20 million, according to a source that has seen the contract.
Fantasy Tip: McCown would be a low-end QB2 if he wins the starting job.

Fantasy Tip: If McCown wins the starting job, he should be considered nothing more than a low-end QB2.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown signed a three-year deal Friday, Feb. 27, according to a source. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. McCown completed 184 of 327 passes for 2,206 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014. McCown has a good relationship with offensive coordinator John DeFilippo from their days with the Oakland Raiders.
Fantasy Tip: The signing of McCown likely means Brian Hoyer will move on and try to land a job elsewhere. McCown will likely compete for the starting quarterback job with Johnny Manziel in training camp. If McCown wins the job, he offers very little upside, despite having succeeded in the NFL before. He's nothing more than a weak QB2 selection if he's starting.

Fantasy Tip: McCown likely will have the chance to compete for the starting quarterback job during training camp. McCown likely would be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season if he wins the starting job.

Fantasy Tip: He would likely have a chance to compete for the starting job in Cleveland, but unless the Browns upgrade their weapons in the passing game significantly this offseason, McCown wouldn't have much fantasy value as the starter.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon is a player the Cleveland Browns are believed to be interested in, according to two league sources. There haven't been any formal offers, but if the Buccaneers are willing to deal Glennon he is a name worth watching.
Fantasy Tip: A move to Cleveland wouldn't do much for Glennon's fantasy appeal, as the team appears likely to lose TE Jordan Cameron to free agency while also dealing with the looming suspension of WR Josh Gordon. The receiver corps might actually be worse in Cleveland than Tampa Bay, and that's saying a lot.

Fantasy Tip: Even if McCown ends up signing with Cleveland and winning the starting job, he's still not worth starting on fantasy squads, especially when he would be without the services of suspended WR Josh Gordon.

Cleveland Browns president Alec Scheiner has denied trying to run the football operations of the organization after a CBSSports.com report said Scheiner was "involved in everything," doing "too much." Scheiner said he sometimes watches film with general manager Ray Farmer "to sit in there and try to learn and listen." "I like my role," Scheiner said. "I've got enough on my plate."

Fantasy Tip: The Browns are meeting with draft prospects at the quarterback position, and of course they still have Johnny Manziel on the roster. It seems unlikely Hoyer will be brought back at this point, but that door certainly isnít closed. Whomever is the starter in Cleveland is expected to be without Josh Gordon, and it is unclear if Jordan Cameron will be back. That makes the fantasy outlook of any Browns quarterback unappealing.
Sun, 22 Feb 2015 18:19:07 -0800
Fantasy Tip: The Browns could use a receiver with explosive speed, especially on a roster devoid of much talent following the loss of Josh Gordon.
Sun, 22 Feb 2015 18:18:27 -0800
Fantasy Tip: The tight end position is a spot very much in demand, and the draft isn't very deep. Cameron is likely to find a big payday, and he could be a nice rebound candidate for fantasy owners in the right system if he can stay healthy.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent CB Buster Skrine is expected to have a nice market after a good season. The Browns want him back, but might not be interested in a bidding war for his services. The team has met with his representation.
