Cleveland Browns WR Vince Mayle has had some adjustment issues from college to the pro level, according to head coach Mike Pettine. "Vince just has to play. He has done a good job. It has just been inconsistent. No different to me than any other rookie dealing with growing pains and the adjustment to life in the NFL, dealing with an NFL route tree and an NFL playbook," head coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Cleveland Browns WR Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) is uncertain for the preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 3. He might be rested if there is a chance he can aggravate his injury. "If there's a high risk of severe re-injury, then we won't expose him to that, but if we feel he can go out there and give us quality reps on a pitch count, then I think that's best for all involved," head coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Fantasy Tip: Pryor is simply battling for a roster spot and is not expected to emerge as a useful fantasy option, even though Cleveland's receiving corps is not that deep.

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (foot) missed practice Tuesday, Sept. 1, due to an undisclosed injury. "Then Brian I think just got stepped on so it was just something that we wanted to go ahead and rest him," head coach Mike Pettine said.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline is likely to start opposite Dwayne Bowe when the regular season starts, but he is worth nothing more than a late-round flier in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Cleveland Browns PK Travis Coons edged out PK Carey Spear, winning the battle for the placekicking job. "Yeah, it was close. I thought both guys handled themselves very well, very professionally," head coach Mike Pettine said Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Fantasy Tip: Coons was kept because he has a slightly stronger leg. For fantasy purposes, he isn't worth using in most standard formats, but occasionally he might be ideal for FantasyScore players if the price is right and the matchup favorable.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel (elbow) said he does not need surgery on his sore elbow. The Browns also consulted with Dr. James Andrew for a second opinion on the elbow. Manziel said he needs to ice it and should be able to throw again next week. He added that he doesn't think the sore elbow will be a problem during the regular season.
Fantasy Tip: The injury should be a mild concern, but the MRI turned out negative. As long as Manziel doesn't aggravate the elbow, he should be OK to play this year. Josh McCown is still the Browns' starter, so Manziel will be on the sideline anyway.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns don't exactly have the best wide receiver corps in the NFL, and Pryor could provide help, especially with his size. For now, however, it's probably smart to stay away from Pryor until he is healthy.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel (elbow) has had issues with his elbow since high school. The elbow had been flagged by one team leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft, according to a source. Head coach Mike Pettine said he believes Manziel's elbow had been included in medical reports, but that it has flared up since then. An MRI came back negative, but Manziel will not play Thursday, Sept. 3.
Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear how serious Manziel's injury is, but it does sounds like it's more of a nagging injury than something sudden. Manziel's timetable still isn't known. Josh McCown will start anyway and should be drafted as a backup fantasy quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will have to pass the concussion tests before he is cleared to return. Owners will need to see how he practices next week to see if he will be able to play in Week 1. Johnson could be a late-round option in drafts because he could receive more work as the season goes on.

Fantasy Tip: Pryor missed the first three preseason games, so he will need a solid performance in the final preseason game if he wants to make the team. Pryor could be a waiver wire option during the season if he has a regular role in the passing game.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel's (elbow) status for the week leading up to the preseason finale against the Chicago Bears remains unclear, head coach Mike Pettine said Sunday, Aug. 30. "I'll get the medical update today, just see what their plan is for him, when to start throwing again," Pettine said. "Given that the MRI was negative, we think rest will be the answer. To me, there's no need to think beyond that until we get to that point, and if it looks like it is more than that, then we'll address it appropriately."
Fantasy Tip: Josh McCown has little competition for the starting job at this point, but the lack of firepower weapons in Cleveland and his own limitations make him a low-end QB2.
