Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel could see some action in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders, according to head coach Mike Pettine. However, Pettine said Monday, Oct. 20, that QB Brian Hoyer is still firmly entrenched as the team's starting quarterback. Hoyer completed a career-low 39 percent of his attempts against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 and threw for 215 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. He has completed only 41.3 percent of his passes in the last two weeks. Pettine blamed Hoyer's poor performance on the team's inability to run and set up play-action.
Fantasy Tip: The Browns face a great matchup in the Raiders this weekend. It's a perfect chance for Hoyer to bounce back from his previous rough outings, but if he doesn't, there's probably a good chance that Manziel is starting in Week 9.

Cleveland Browns C Alex Mack's (leg) season-ending injury in Week 7 played a big role in the running game sputtering out against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7. OG John Greco slid over from right guard to start in Mack's place, and OG Paul McQuistan started at right guard. Head coach Mike Pettine said the team will evaluate the positions moving forward. C Nick McDonald might be able to fill in for Mack and allow Greco to remain at right guard. Another option would be to use OT Vinston Painter at right guard.
