Bengals | Giovani Bernard impressive Friday

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 17:00:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) looked very impressive during practice Friday, July 28, in the opinion of The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. Bernard is eight months recovered from suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Bernard is close to full strength but probably will receives some days off during camp. He will be part of a committee with Jeremy Hill and Joe Mixon but should be used as a receiver out of the backfield. Owners should keep an eye on during the preseason to see what his role will be in the offense. He probably will be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues and could be a No. 4 running back in some leagues.

Bengals | John Ross to be limited early

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 16:42:40 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) was not placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list but will be limited during the early part of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Ross probably will miss a few preseason games but appears to be on track for the start of the regular season. Ross probably will be used in the slot and will be a deep threat in the passing game. He could be a No. 5 receiver in some fantasy leagues because of his big-play potential.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert fully healthy

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 10:00:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert claims he has been healthy for a "couple months" and is cleared the start of training camp after undergoing back surgery in December.

Fantasy Tip: Good news for the oft-injured tight end, who has missed 26 of 48 games over the last three seasons. When healthy, Eifert is on par with Rob Gronkowski in terms of his ability to find the end zone. Consider him a high-risk, high-reward TE1 in fantasy.

Fantasy Tip: Ross should be ready for the start of the regular season but likely will be limited during training camp and the preseason. Bengals | Giovani Bernard likely cleared for camp

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 06:53:40 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) is likely to be cleared for the beginning of training camp. Bernard is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Mixon has been the talk of camp, and Bernard could be used sparingly behind Mixon and Jeremy Hill. There is still some PPR luster, but the upside isn't what it once was. Look at him as an RB4 in fantasy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert expected for camp

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 06:52:05 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is expected to be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a 13-touchdown performance in 2015, Eifert has struggled with the injury bug. He has played in just 22 games over the last three years. With the depth of the position on the come up, there is ample risk taking him in the midrange TE1 portion of fantasy. Monitor him throughout camp.

Bengals | A.J. Green targeted heavily before injury

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 09:21:48 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green saw a 32.3-percent target share in Weeks 1 through 10 before he was lost for the season with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Much of Green's heavy involvement had to do with the prolonged absence of Tyler Eifert as well as the struggles of the running game and the departure of Marvin Jones as well as Mohamed Sanu. Owners should expect the target share to fall back down closer to the 25-percent range - more typical for elite receivers - following the return of Eifert as well as the additions of John Ross and Joe Mixon. He remains firmly in the WR1 conversation, however.

Bengals | Marvin Lewis has high praise for Joe Mixon

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 17:58:04 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis admitted that RB Joe Mixon is "off the charts talent-wise," just from the brief time they have spent together on the football field. "Big, fast, catch, run, see, smart -- and he's 20-year-old kid. He's as smart as a whip. You know, I mean, those things are fun. And I keep reminding everybody, he's a 20-year-old kid. Keep understanding that. Let Joe continue to grow and develop as we go."

Fantasy Tip: There's no question about Mixton's talent level, as it was only off-the-field issues that pushed him into the second round of this year's draft. However, it may be hard to lean on him for consistent production in his rookie season, considering the other talented running backs on Cincinnati's roster. At the same time, Giovani Bernard may miss the first few regular season games, which could provide a valuable opportunity for the former Oklahoma star.

Bengals | Joshua Malone standing out

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 09:07:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Joshua Malone is 6-3, 208 pounds and ran at 4.40 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. His size/speed ratio was evident on the practice field during the Bengals OTAs and minicamps. "He showed us what we thought he was. He's big and he's fast and he has a good natural feel for the game. He's learning how to run our routes and do things our way like any of them are - especially new guys. But he has some real ability," receivers coach James Urban said.
