WLWT.com reports Cincinnati Bengals LB Rey Maualuga pleaded guilty Tuesday, Feb. 2, to driving under the influence. Maualuga was arrested early Friday, Jan. 29, after hitting a parking meter and parked cars. Maualuga was sentenced to seven days in jail, which were suspended, and two years on probation. Maualuga must attend alcohol counseling, had his driver's license suspended for 90 days and pay restitution to the owners of the cars he damaged and $350 in fines.

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have offered to make some financial concessions on their Paul Brown Stadium lease to help alleviate the predicted shortfall in the Hamilton County (Ohio) stadium fund. The club is offering to relieve the county of $2 million worth of capital repairs to the stadium. According to a letter by the team to county administrator Patrick Thompson, the team would pay to replace carpet inside the stadium's club level area, convert to an electronic ticketing system and put in a new playing field. Under the current lease terms, those improvements are the county's responsibility. Team vice president Troy A. Blackburn said the team's offer of assistance would "total roughly $40 million" over the life of the lease, which ends after the 2026 NFL season.

It is the first time Maualuga has had an alcohol-related vilation, which usually costs a player a fine of two game checks.
