Bengals | John Ross feeling great

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 19:10:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) said his surgically repaired shoulder is feeling great and expects to be ready for the start of training camp. Ross appeared to be doing some things with the receiver group during practice Tuesday, June 13, but did not have a helmet.

Fantasy Tip: Ross likely will be used as a deep threat for the Bengals this season and could also receive some short passes to allow him to use his speed. Ross can be a late-round option for owners because of his big-play ability and probably will be more valuable in keeper leagues.

Bengals | Joe Mixon drops weight

Sat, 10 Jun 2017 11:05:34 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon has dropped 10 pounds since the rookie minicamp and currently weighs 228 pounds.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon probably will not start right away but should have a decent role in the offense as a rookie. Owners in standard leagues should consider Mixon a No. 4 running back at this point, but he will have more value in keeper leagues since he could be the Bengals starting running back in a year or two.

Bengals | Joe Mixon to train with Adrian Peterson

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 17:16:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals second-round RB Joe Mixon intends to spend at least two weeks training with New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson in Houston following the conclusion of Cincinnati's mini-camp next week.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson and Mixon both went to school at Oklahoma. One would imagine only good can come out of training with a physical freak such as Peterson, so we can only hope this is the first of many smart decisions Mixon makes as a pro. The rookie will likely begin the season in some kind of committee with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard, but the odds are strong he'll take over the backfield around midseason and serve as a high-upside RB2 if/when he does.

Fri, 02 Jun 2017 08:57:32 -0700

Bengals | Carl Lawson turning heads

Wed, 31 May 2017 10:04:48 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals fourth-round DE Carl Lawson is seeing significant time as a linebacker so far in offseason practices and has been highly impressive, according to a handful of players and coaches. The Bengals anticipate him putting his hand on the ground on third down, but he is working with the linebackers so they can get him on the field on first and second down as well. "He's smart. A real smart guy. He's going to be good … Down the road, you can do a whole bunch of things with him once he understands the schematics of the defense. It's a whole new chess piece for us," defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said.

Bengals | A.J. Green wants to play a while

Tue, 30 May 2017 12:11:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green wants to play seven more years in the NFL, according to Geoff Hobson of bengals.com.

Fantasy Tip: Playing seven more seasons would put Green at a total of 13 seasons. That would be quite a career for one of the game's top receivers. Green has dealt with injuries over the course of his six seasons so far, especially last year, but he remains a top five fantasy receiver and deserves to be selected in the late-first or early-second round.

Bengals | Joe Mixon the Week 1 third-down back?

Sun, 28 May 2017 17:35:35 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon could serve as the third-down back for the first few games as RB Giovani Bernard (knee) works his way back from knee surgery, according to beat writer Geoff Hobson, and Hobson believes Mixon will be a big part of the running back rotation even when Bernard is healthy.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals drafted Mixon to add some explosiveness to the running game, so he is going to be worked into the offense one way or another. He is a high-upside RB4 in redraft leagues and a first-round pick in rookie drafts.
