Bengals | Jake Elliott was coach's choice

Fri, 14 Jul 2017 18:48:04 -0700

Bengals | Marvin Lewis has high praise for Joe Mixon

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 17:58:04 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis admitted that RB Joe Mixon is "off the charts talent-wise," just from the brief time they have spent together on the football field. "Big, fast, catch, run, see, smart -- and he's 20-year-old kid. He's as smart as a whip. You know, I mean, those things are fun. And I keep reminding everybody, he's a 20-year-old kid. Keep understanding that. Let Joe continue to grow and develop as we go."

Fantasy Tip: There's no question about Mixton's talent level, as it was only off-the-field issues that pushed him into the second round of this year's draft. However, it may be hard to lean on him for consistent production in his rookie season, considering the other talented running backs on Cincinnati's roster. At the same time, Giovani Bernard may miss the first few regular season games, which could provide a valuable opportunity for the former Oklahoma star.

Bengals | Joshua Malone standing out

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 09:07:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Joshua Malone is 6-3, 208 pounds and ran at 4.40 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. His size/speed ratio was evident on the practice field during the Bengals OTAs and minicamps. "He showed us what we thought he was. He's big and he's fast and he has a good natural feel for the game. He's learning how to run our routes and do things our way like any of them are - especially new guys. But he has some real ability," receivers coach James Urban said.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to remain involved

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 18:35:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is "going to get some carries" and will remain a factor near the goal line, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Fantasy Tip: The assumption is that Joe Mixon will eventually take control of Cincinnati's backfield, but Hill could have something to say about that. Mixon is without a doubt the better long-term option, but Hill could still be a flex play this season.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell likely will make team

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 13:26:24 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell likely will make the 53-man roster this season because it would leave at least $3 million of dead money on the salary cap if he was released, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell. The Bengals also like that LaFell has a mentor-like relationship with WR A.J. Green.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell should continue to be one of the starting receivers for the Bengals in 2017 but could lose some targets because of the younger receivers on the team. He posted 862 yards and six touchdowns this past season and could be a No. 4 or No. 5 fantasy receiver if he can post similar numbers.

Bengals | A.J. Green focused on winning

Sat, 01 Jul 2017 19:07:07 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he wouldn't mind seeing fewer targets this season if it means the other receivers are contributing and the team is winning.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Green does see a few less targets, his role as Andy Dalton's go-to receiver isn't changing any time soon. He is a safe bet to deliver WR1 production again in 2017.

Fri, 30 Jun 2017 20:43:36 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Cody Core is seeing the benefits from the playing time he received last year when WR A.J. Green was injured, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. "It gives him the confidence to come out and work in the offseason and know that he can achieve higher goals," Lewis said.

Mon, 19 Jun 2017 11:33:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals PKs Randy Bullock, Jake Elliott and Jon Brown are "pretty even" in their battle for the starting job, according to special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons. Simmons added that wouldn't be surprised to see the starting kicker competition last until the end of the preseason.

Bengals | John Ross feeling great

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 19:10:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) said his surgically repaired shoulder is feeling great and expects to be ready for the start of training camp. Ross appeared to be doing some things with the receiver group during practice Tuesday, June 13, but did not have a helmet.

Fantasy Tip: Ross likely will be used as a deep threat for the Bengals this season and could also receive some short passes to allow him to use his speed. Ross can be a late-round option for owners because of his big-play ability and probably will be more valuable in keeper leagues.

Bengals | Joe Mixon drops weight

Sat, 10 Jun 2017 11:05:34 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon has dropped 10 pounds since the rookie minicamp and currently weighs 228 pounds.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon probably will not start right away but should have a decent role in the offense as a rookie. Owners in standard leagues should consider Mixon a No. 4 running back at this point, but he will have more value in keeper leagues since he could be the Bengals starting running back in a year or two.
