Bears | Zach Miller not a lock

Mon, 26 Jun 2017 09:07:54 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (foot) isn't a lock to make the team, in the opinion of beat writer Brad Biggs. Miller will be pushed for a job by TE Daniel Brown, TE Ben Braunecker and TE MyCole Pruitt.

Fantasy Tip: Miller had career highs with 47 catches and 486 yards with four scores last season, but he's 32, and has had injury concerns the last two years. He's a solid TE2 in fantasy if he makes the club and makes it back from his broken right foot.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey not a lock

Thu, 22 Jun 2017 07:30:57 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey isn't a lock to make the final roster, and he'll have to improve on special teams to enhance his chances of making the team.

Bears | Markus Wheaton has good chance to start

Thu, 22 Jun 2017 07:22:46 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Markus Wheaton likely has a good chance to start on the outside for the team. The Pittsburgh Steelers used Wheaton in the slot, but he wasn't nearly as productive as he was on the outside.

Fantasy Tip: Wheaton's best season came two years ago with a 44-749-5 line, and he won't have the likes of Ben Roethlisberger throwing to him. He's worthy of monitoring as a WR5, but he doesn't provide the upside many others would in that role for your team.

Bears | Kevin White healthy, expanding his game

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 20:37:22 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (leg, ankle) is practicing at full speed and working on expanding his route tree, and he said he has to show what he can do this season.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries have caused White to miss 28 of his first 32 games, but the former first-round pick could end up being Chicago's No. 1 receiver if he can stay healthy. He is worth the risk as a WR4.

Bears | Cameron Meredith will be ready for camp

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 16:25:29 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) will be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach John Fox.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a solid 2016 season and could become the team's No. 1 receiver this season if he can stay healthy. Owners should monitor his situation at the start of training camp because he could be a No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Bears | Jordan Howard eyeing more work as receiver

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 10:48:27 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard expects a larger role in the passing game this year after converting only 29-of-50 targets for 298 yards and one touchdown as a rookie.

Fantasy Tip: Part of the reason why Howard hopes for more work is because he underwent off-season eye surgery to correct his vision, which probably was as big of a reason as anything as to why he led all running backs in drops. However, Chicago added explosive mighty mite Tarik Cohen in the draft and Benny Cunningham in free agency - two stellar receiving backs who will probably keep Howard's receiving ceiling fairly low. Regardless, Howard should remain a solid RB1 in fantasy.

Bears | Zach Miller could miss start of camp

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 23:33:28 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (foot) may not be ready when the team starts its training camp July 26, according to head coach John Fox.

Fantasy Tip: This contradicts what Miller said in late May, but it shouldn't be all that surprising given the 32-year-old's lengthy list of injury woes. He's a decent TE2 when healthy, but history says he won't stay that way.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky running second-team

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 23:38:44 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has been running the second-team offense since QB Mark Sanchez (knee) injured his knee last week. With Sanchez not expected back until training camp, Trubisky is set to continue in the role during next week's mandatory minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: While this may be getting Trubisky some extra reps, the expectation remains that come Week 1, Mike Glennon will start and Sanchez will back him up. As such, Trubisky's value remains limited to dynasty formats.

Bears | Evaluating Chicago's WRs

Mon, 05 Jun 2017 06:43:58 -0700

Chicago Bears WRs Cameron Meredith (thumb), Kevin White and Markus Wheaton (shoulder) are considered locks to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of Chicago Tribune writer Dan Wiederer. WRs Victor Cruz, Kendall Wright, Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson and Daniel Braverman are considered to be on the bubble. WRs Tanner Gentry, Rueben Randle and Titus Davis are viewed as long shots for the final roster.

Sat, 03 Jun 2017 11:34:05 -0700

Bears | More on Cameron Meredith injury

Fri, 02 Jun 2017 11:12:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, surgery has not been ruled out for Chicago Bears for WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) after he suffered ligament damage in one of his thumbs during OTAs on Thursday, June 1. While he is expected to miss six to eight weeks, Meredith injury is not believed to be serious "in the big picture," according to the Chicago Tribune's Dan Wiederer.

Bears | Cameron Meredith suffers thumb injury

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 16:51:35 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) suffered a thumb ligament injury Thursday, June 1, and will miss the rest of the offseason program. However, he expects to be ready for training camp, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign that saw him register 66 catches, 888 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games, so thankfully, this injury doesn't look like it will hinder him going into his third season. The Bears have a lot of issues with their receiver depth, but that's something that will only benefit Meredith, making him an intriguing weapon to draft.
