Chicago Bears news, rumors and injuries

Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott said being drafted by the Chicago Bears would be his ideal scenario. "My running back coach my sophomore year is Stan Drayton and he's up at the Chicago Bears right now, so that would be a dream situation for me honestly," Elliott said. "I know if I went up there he'd push me to the limits that I need to be and I'd accomplish everything I want to in my NFL career."
Fantasy Tip: Elliott is arguably the most complete back in the draft, and in the right situation, he could be a flex option as a rookie.

Fantasy Tip: Prior to playing 15 games last year, Miller had not appeared in a regular-season game since 2011. Despite his breakout second half, the Bears are likely to look at other options - including perhaps bringing back Martellus Bennett at roughly the same price - if Miller's asking price does not drop. If Miller remains in Chicago and Bennett does not, he has low-end TE1 potential. If both stick around, the 31-year-old journeyman would be a high-upside fantasy backup at best.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery is too valuable to not re-sign with the Bears this offseason, according to ESPNChicago.com's Jeff Dickerson. Dickerson said Chicago can't afford to let Jeffery leave, especially since they drafted and developed him. If Jeffery and the Bears can't agree on a deal, then Jeffery could receive the franchise tag.
Fantasy Tip: Jeffery is coming off an injury-plagued 2015 season, but he was dynamite when he played, and he was extremely productive in the two previous seasons in which he was healthy. The injuries are a concern, but Jeffery is a fringe WR1 when healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has shown signs of age at 30 years old, but he's still a valuable back in PPR leagues. If he can latch on with a team with at least a timeshare role, he'll be a low-end RB2 in fantasy at minimum.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler wrapped up the 2015 season with 3,659 passing yards with 21 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, a 64.4 completion percentage and a career-high 92.3 quarterback rating. His completion percentage was the second-highest of his career, and that was playing nearly half of the season without his biggest target, Alshon Jeffery, part of the season without Martellus Bennett, and losing first-round pick Kevin White to an injury in the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Bellamy and Mariani were getting a chance to shine with Alshon Jeffery sidelined, but going into 2016 they aren't likely to have much value. Mariani is more of a special teams maven, while Bellamy will be a depth player only.

Fantasy Tip: Langford had five total touches to 20 for Matt Forte. It will be an interesting offseason in Chicago, as Langford showed he can be productive as the top running back while Forte was out. The team has a decision to make whether to bring back Forte or rely upon Langford and Ka'Deem Carey. Langford's fantasy value will change dramatically if Forte is playing his football in another NFL city in 2016.

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte posted 17 rushes for 76 yards in the Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions, and he added three receptions for 34 yards a touchdown in what could have been his final season with the team.
Fantasy Tip: The Bears could still use Forte, pairing him with Jeremy Langford for an impressive one-two punch. However, Chicago would have to get Forte back at a nice price, and Forte might be able to get more money elsewhere. It will be an interesting situation to watch, as Langford could go from mid-round draft pick to early-round fantasy option if Forte does not return. Ka'Deem Carey's fantasy situation could improve dramatically if Forte goes elsewhere, too.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery, a restricted free agent, might have the franchise tag applied to him in the offseason. He was limited to nine games in 2015 due to injury, and the team may not be comfortable giving him a long-term deal. He still posted 54 receptions for 807 yards and four touchdowns.
Fantasy Tip: Jeffery is a talented receiver, and perhaps one of the best fantasy options in the league when he is healthy. There is a lot of uncertainty with his future, and it's also uncertain if Jay Cutler will be his quarterback or if Chicago will go another direction. Regardless of his QB, Jeffery is a top-tier fantasy receiver when healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Royal ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) missed practice all week and was officially designated as questionable on the injury report. WRs Josh Bellamy ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Marc Mariani ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should receive slight fantasy boosts but should only be viewed as desperation sources of salary cap relief in FantasyScore.
