Chicago Bears news, rumors and injuries

Chicago Bears TE Martellus Bennett said he played most of the 2013 season with a torn medial collateral ligament and a separated shoulder. He said he did not have surgery to repair either injury during the offseason. Bennett has caught 29 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Fantasy Tip: Bennett has had a big impact on the Bears' offense so far this season and should continue to have a role in the passing game. Bennett should be a starting option each week and could be a fine option on FantasyScore if the price is right.

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte carried 23 times for a season-high 122 yards and no touchdowns in the Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers, and he added 49 yards on five receptions. Forte went over 10,000 career total yards from scrimmage in the loss.
Fantasy Tip: Forte still failed to find the end zone, but the 100-yard rushing game was his first of the season, and his 49 receiving yards were the most since Week 1. He has managed at least five receptions in each of his four games. He remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues despite his slow start and lack of scores.

Fantasy Tip: For the first time in four games this season, Bennett was held out of the end zone, but he more than made up for it to fantasy owners with the big yardage total. He is a Top 5 fantasy option at his position right now.

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte recently voiced his displeasure with the Bears' running game. Though Forte has struggled running the ball this year, he still leads all running backs in receptions (19) and is third among running backs in receiving yards (145).
Fantasy Tip: Forte has still provided consistency in the passing game despite his lack of production in the running game. He'll look for a bounce-back outing against a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed five total touchdowns to running backs through three games.

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte has struggled this season, posting just 136 rushing yards on 42 carries through three games, for a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry, and he has yet to visit the end zone on the ground or through the air. However, that could change in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers, a team which ranks 30th in the NFL against the rush, allowing 156.3 yards per game. In two games against the Packers last season, Forte had at least 110 rushing yards in each game, and he averaged 5.1 yards per carry while posting 235 rushing yards and three touchdowns while also hauling in a touchdown reception.
Fantasy Tip: Forte's weekly fantasy owners have to be losing patience, and hope this is the week. FantasyScore owners might want to take a leap of faith at $8300 (or 16.6 percent of the salary cap) on Forte this weekend given the favorable matchup.

Chicago Bears C Roberto Garza (ankle), LB Shea McClellin (hand), CB Sherrick McManis (quadriceps), DT Jeremiah Ratliff (concussion) and OG Matt Slauson (ankle) have been ruled out for Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers. DE Jared Allen (illness) and S Chris Conte (shoulder) are questionable, while S Ryan Mundy (shoulder) and DE Trevor Scott (foot) are probable. Allen, Garza, McClellin, McManis, Ratliff and Slauson didn't practice Friday, Sept. 26. Conte was limited, and the others practiced in full.

Fantasy Tip: If Marshall can't go, look for increased roles for Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte. The match up against the Packers is a nice one, but the cost of $8,200 in FantasyScore may be a bit of a risk.
