Chicago Bears news, rumors and injuries

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford carried six times for 17 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, Aug. 27. On a bright note, however, he played every snap on the Bears' first three possession before leaving with other members of the first-team offense early in the second quarter.
Fantasy Tip: Langford is not a special talent nor will he have a great offensive line to run behind this season, but it is beginning to look more and more like he has a pretty good grasp on the starting job, making him a dark-horse candidate for 250-plus touches. That kind of workload would put him squarely in the RB2 discussion, making him worthy of a fourth- or fifth-round pick in most leagues.

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears QB Connor Shaw (leg) suffered a broken left leg right above the ankle, according to a source. He could still return this season if there is no ligament damage.

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) believes he's improving at being a complete running back and would like to be a three-down back for the Bears this season. Langford cited improvements in playing through contact, catching the football and his pass-blocking ability as factors in him becoming a better player. Additionally, Langford said his recent foot injury feels good and is getting better.
Fantasy Tip: Langford is a bit of a conundrum in the fantasy realm this year. His yards per carry (3.6) left something to be desired in his rookie season, but he did show flashes of his ability to be a featured running back. If can stay healthy, he'll have plenty of chances to solidify himself as THE guy in Chicago's backfield. Draft him as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Fantasy Tip: Langford appears to be on track for the start of the regular season and may be able to play in the third preseason game. He is expected to be the starting running back this season but may have to share work with the other running backs on the roster. Langford should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 back in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Langford is expected to be the starting running back for the Bears, but there have been whispers of a committee approach and Jordan Howard and Ka'Deem Carey loom. Langford is in the RB2 discussion, but he shouldn't be viewed as the safest investment given he'll demand a pick in the early middle rounds.

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) was once again in a red jersey, which signifies no contact, during practice on Tuesday, Aug. 23, but is thought to be close to returning from the NFL's concussion protocol.
Fantasy Tip: Miller's preseason concussion trouble doesn't really change his outlook at all, as he was always a risky TE2 due to a long list of medical issues over the years.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't appear to be a serious ailment, but his status should be monitored over the next couple weeks. He'll be Chicago's primary running back when he's healthy, but Jordan Howard and Ka'Deem Carey should be given a look in late rounds for those who are targeting Langford. As for Langford, he should be viewed as an RB2.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery said WR Kevin White is making strides and making plays. "He missed the whole year last year, so this year he's progressing right where we need him to be," Jeffery said.
Fantasy Tip: White has the physical skills to develop into a star, and lining up across from Jeffery should give him plenty of chances to make plays. He is a high-upside WR4.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Langford has avoided a long-term injury, and he's looked good in the preseason so far. The Bears may choose to rest him over the final two preseason games, but Langford is still in RB2 territory as Chicago's main back.
