Bears | Jay Cutler misses practice

Thu, 29 Sep 2016 11:38:06 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 29. Cutler was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, but head coach John Fox said Cutler did not suffer any setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Cutler will miss at least one more week because of his thumb injury. Brian Hoyer probably will be the starting quarterback in Week 4 but is only a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues at this time.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery listed as limited

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 12:36:58 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery was able to play with the injury last week and should be ready to play again in Week 4. He has recorded at least 70 yards in each of the first three games of the season and should be a starting option in all leagues no matter which quarterback starts for the Bears.

Bears | Jay Cutler limited

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 12:27:48 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler's status for Week 4 is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. Cutler did not do much in the first two games of the season and probably should be avoided even if he plays this week.

Bears | Jay Cutler not guaranteed starting job

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 21:00:30 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is not guaranteed to be the starter whenever he's medically cleared to return, according to head coach John Fox. Cutler apparently pushed to start in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys but was not cleared. When asked about Cutler regaining the starting job upon returning, Fox said, "I don't think there are any givens."

Fantasy Tip: Although Brian Hoyer posted decent numbers in Cutler's stead, much of it came during garbage time as the Bears were down 21 at the half. Hoyer has proven competent in previous stops, but he clearly lacks Cutler's talent and couldn't be viewed as part of the team's future. Still, there are enough weapons in Chicago's passing game to give whoever is taking snaps some fantasy appeal.

Bears | John Fox believes in Jordan Howard

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 18:56:58 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard might be in line to shoulder the load with RB Jeremy Langford (ankle) sidelined, and head coach John Fox said it would not be impossible. "I think there's guys in the league that do," Fox said. "Remember, Jordan is a rookie that we've seen for three real NFL football games. So we'll kind of evaluate as we move forward."

Fantasy Tip: Howard is the last man standing in the Chicago backfield, as Langford is down and Ka'Deem Carey did not travel to Dallas due to a hamstring injury. Howard will be a very popular choice off the waiver wire this week.

Bears | Jeremy Langford out a few weeks

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 16:42:41 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (ankle) will miss four to six weeks with an ankle sprain, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Rookie Jordan Howard is the heir apparent while Langford is sidelined. While he is still unproven, Howard has shown signs of starter potential. He also plays a Detroit Lions defense that just surrendered over 100 rushing yards to Eddie Lacy. Howard is involved in the passing game, too, so he's not a bad option going forward in PPR and non-PPR leagues and particularly in daily contests next week.

Bears | Jeremy Langford dealing with ankle sprain

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 11:51:23 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (ankle) left Week 3 with an injury initially feared to be an Achilles' tear, but team doctors have ruled it out after further examination. Instead, the team believes he only sprained his ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Langford showed increased physicality in the preseason, but head coach John Fox thought he left yards on the field in Week 1 and appears to have resorted to his favored committee approach since. If Langford is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, rookie Jordan Howard may have just received his chance to become the new lead back in Chicago. With that said, it is difficult to recommend him as anything more than a flex given the Bears' current state of affairs.

Bears | Zach Miller with big game

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 06:51:48 -0700

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller had eight catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Brian Hoyer tends to lean on his tight ends, and Miller has a ton of upside while Jay Cutler (thumb) is out. Miller is a midrange TE1 option with upside against the Detroit Lions next week.

Bears | Brian Hoyer decent in Week 3

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 06:48:55 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Brian Hoyer was 30-for-49 for 317 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 3 loss against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: He didn't throw any picks, but he put the ball on the ground twice, losing one of them. The Bears will have a tough matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 4, and Hoyer may be a bye-week filler.
