Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne was arrested Sunday, April 24, for speeding and reckless driving. He was driving 102 mph in a 65 mph zone. Neither alcohol nor drugs were involved, however. Artis-Payne was arrested on an unsecured $5,000 bond and only spent about 30 minutes in jail.
Fantasy Tip: Who knew the usually patient and hesitant Artis-Payne would get caught for speeding? He will likely still compete with Fozzy Whittaker for the backup running back position behind Jonathan Stewart, with Mike Tolbert also playing a role. The arrest and prospect of future off-field issues may lower his on-field opportunity, though. He has the talent to be fantasy relevant, but he'll only have real fantasy value if Stewart is injured.

Carolina Panthers LB Thomas Davis (arm) said his arm is doing really well, adding that he's excited about where he is now as opposed to where he was a few weeks ago. Davis broke his forearm in the NFC Championship and underwent surgery the following day.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin missed the entire 2015 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament but should be ready for 2016. Benjamin should be one of the main targets for Cam Newton and would be a solid No. 2 wide receiver for fantasy owners.

Washington Redskins CB Josh Norman reportedly contacted team officials of the Carolina Panthers Wednesday, April 20, in an attempt to sign his franchise tag, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. It was too late, as the team had already notified the league it was rescinding his tag.

Fantasy Tip: Newton is definitely a top-tier QB1 after taking home MVP honors last year while throwing for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns and running for another 636 yards and 10 scores. It'll be tough matching those numbers in 2016, but Newton's ability to make noise with his arms and legs is unmatched right now.

Fantasy Tip: After you saw what Carolina did on offense last season (Ted Ginn had 10 touchdowns), you can only imagine what a healthy Benjamin could have done. Benjamin will be in that low-end WR1/high-end WR2 area, and obviously, he'd be a safer WR2.

Updating previous reports, free-agent CB Josh Norman (Panthers) had the franchise tag rescinded because the team became uncomfortable signing him to a one-year deal and didn't believe he'd sign a long-term pact, according to general manager Dave Gettleman. "The more we thought about it, the more flexibility that $14 million would give us," Gettleman said.
