Fantasy Tip: Gano may be limited during offseason workouts but should be fine for training camp. He made less than 80 percent of his field goal attempts for the first time in five years this season but could still be a starting option in some fantasy leagues.

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers assistant head coach/secondary coach Steve Wilks will be named the team's new defensive coordinator unless he lands the head coaching job with the Los Angeles Rams. He will replace Sean McDermott, who was named the Buffalo Bills' head coach Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart turns 30 in March, and he has really been dogged with injuries the last five seasons. The best-case scenario would be for him to land in another timeshare role and be a low-end RB2 in drafts.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton tallied career lows in completion percentage (52.9) and passer rating (75.8) just one year after winning the NFL MVP. He also managed a career low in rush attempts (90) and rushing yards (359) and tied his career low in rushing touchdowns (5).
Fantasy Tip: Newton is one of the most dynamic players in football, but his propensity for inaccuracy clearly led to the demise of the Panthers and himself. Newton's running ability will always make him a QB1 consideration, however. Even with his worst season so far in his career, he still finished as a high-end QB2.

Fantasy Tip: Newton dealt with various injury this season but should have a normal offseason unless the injury does not heal with rest. Newton had a down year compared to previous seasons but still posted solid numbers for owners. He may to less running in 2017 but should still be a fine starting quarterback for fantasy owners.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton likely will be asked to run fewer zone reads next season because head coach Ron Rivera said he wants to see Newton evolve as a quarterback and take fewer hits. "You can't sit there and expect us to run 20 zone reads and expect him to carry the ball 10 out of those 20 times," Rivera said. "That's the truth of the matter." Rivera said the team will still look for ways to use Newton's athleticism like play action passes.
Fantasy Tip: Newton rushed for 359 yards and five touchdowns in 2016 but also took a lot of hard hits during the season, so the Panthers likely will look for Newton to become a better pocket passer. He is a solid quarterback when he is healthy and can be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues next season.
