Panthers | Panthers adding Chris Ogbonnaya

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 15:49:42 -0700

The Carolina Panthers will sign free-agent RB Chris Ogbonnaya (Browns).

Fantasy Tip: Ogbonnaya probably will not start for the team but could receive some carries in Week 5. Owners in deeper leagues could consider adding him since the Panthers are thin at running back, and Ogbonnaya could get playing time. Owners on FantasyScore probably should avoid using him this week even though he will have a low cost.

Panthers | Cam Newton to be more involved

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 11:22:42 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton is getting healthy enough for the team to expand their offense, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Newton has only rushed for 33 yards on eight carries in the last three games but accounted for 31.1 percent of the team's rushing yards in the past three seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has been slowed by injured ribs and an offseason ankle surgery so far this season but could have more of an impact if he regains his ability to run. Owners may want to wait on using Newton until they see how he performs in the expanded offense.

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 10:47:08 -0700

Panthers | Darrin Reaves expected to start

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 10:35:52 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Darrin Reaves is expected to be the team's starting running back in Week 5 because of the injuries to RBs DeAngelo Williams (ankle) and Jonathan Stewart (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Reaves was added to the active roster a few weeks ago and appears to be the next running back up because of the injuries. His price on FantasyScore probably will be low this week, which could make him a sleeper candidate for owners.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams doubtful

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 09:46:09 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is doubtful to play in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Williams is still sore, but he doesn't have any structural damage.

Fantasy Tip: As if the Panthers needed another injury to their backfield. Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert are also both out. That'll likely leave them with Darrin Reaves as the main ball carrier in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams likely to sit

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 06:23:29 -0700

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is "week to week", but his status for Week 5 against the Chicago Bears is in serious doubt.

Fantasy Tip: Darrin Reaves would figure to get the bulk of the work. He's worth a flier in case you catch lightning in a bottle, but he's probably not worth a start unless desperate next week.

Panthers | More tests for DeAngelo Williams

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 20:40:13 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in the Week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to a league source. Williams will be evaluated further Monday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Backs are dropping like flies in Charlotte. Darrin Reaves and Tauren Poole might emerge as fantasy targets if Williams joins Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert on the shelf.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin scores again

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 14:50:50 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was able to play in the Week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens, and he finished with five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted a team-high nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has found the end zone in three of his first four NFL games, emerging as a solid WR2 or flex fantasy receiver in most formats.

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 14:39:34 -0700

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams injured

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 11:59:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the team's Week 4 game and will not return.

Fantasy Tip: The team was thin at running back before the injury to Williams and now only has Darrin Reaves and Tauren Poole healthy. It is not known if Williams or Jonathan Stewart will be able to play in Week 5, so owners will need to watch for updates on both players.
