Fri, 19 Sep 2014 21:26:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) ran in the treadmill in the pool Friday, Sept. 19, and will be re-evaluated Saturday, Sept. 20, head coach Ron Rivera said. Cotchery is expected to be a game-time decision.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams expected to play

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 21:25:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (hamstring) is expected to be ready to play in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His injury had been called a thigh injury, but he said Friday, Sept. 19, that he has been battling a hamstring issue. He took reps with the first-team offense Friday, and appears ready to go barring a setback.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his improved outlook, he is still officially questionable and therefore a question mark in FantasyScore leagues. Let him prove his health in one full game before risking a roster spot on him.

Panthers | Several options for roster spot

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 21:24:17 -0700

Carolina Panthers DE Greg Hardy is on the exempt list, but the team has yet to fill his spot on the 53-man roster. Head coach Ron Rivera said RB Darrin Reaves or either WRs Stephen Hill or Marcus Lucas could be brought up from the practice squad.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams not a lock to play

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 16:20:38 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 19, but he's not a lock to play in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: You shouldn't risk Williams' $4,700 price tag at FantasyScore this weekend, especially since the Panthers have the late game Sunday evening. If you want to roll with the Carolina backfield, Jonathan Stewart ($5,100) is the better play.

Cole, Cotchery and Whittaker did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 19. Avant was limited during practice, while the other players fully participated in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Olsen has played well so far this season and would be a solid starting option in all fantasy leagues this week.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin should play

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 11:31:59 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as probable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should be able to play in Week 3 unless he suffers a setback before the game. Owners would have to spend $5,100 on Benjamin at FantasyScore this week, and Benjamin could be a No. 3 wide receiver or flex option for some owners.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams questionable

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 11:15:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Williams may be able to play in the game but could also be limited or share carries because of the injury. Williams costs $4,700 on FantasyScore this week, but owners probably should consider other options since Williams is a big injury risk.

Panthers | Cam Newton won't be 100 percent

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 06:25:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ribs, ankle) is unlikely to be 100 percent the rest of the season. He experiences pain the night after the games and receives treatment the next two days in hopes of practicing every Wednesday. Head coach Ron Rivera said Newton's ankle bothered him more than the ribs. However, Newton said neither injury was worse than the other.

Fantasy Tip: Newton's rushing yardage could be limited this season due to his ailments. However, he remains a low-end QB1 option each week.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams out again

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:50:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) missed his second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Williams was expected to return in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, two straight days of no practice doesn't look good for his chances of returning. Jonathan Stewart ($5,100) isn't a bad buy at FantasyScore if Williams is out again.

Panthers | Greg Olsen a full go

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:46:33 -0700

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (calf) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Olsen had six catches (eight targets) for 72 yards in Week 2 after scoring in Week 1. He's a nice option at FantasyScore for $6,800. The Pittsburgh Steelers were torched by the tight end position last week.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin shows growing pains

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:40:15 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin looked good in his first NFL game in Week 1, but he showed growing pains on route running, downfield blocking and with dropped passes in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. The team graded Benjamin a 70 out of 100 in Week 1 for poor routes and a lack of blocking. He was graded at 93 last week despite catching only two passes for 43 yards. Benjamin also had three drops against the Lions after having a high drop rate of 9 percent at Florida State in 2013.

Fantasy Tip: As with any rookie, Benjamin will have his ups and downs this year. Be careful not to rely on him too much, especially when the team doesn't have much depth at his position. Play the matchups with Benjamin in daily fantasy football, but be prepared for some disappointment along the way.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin returns to full practice

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:31:18 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: After a nice Week 1 performance, Benjamin struggled with drops and looked more like a rookie in Week 2. There may be better options than Benjamin against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week at FantasyScore.
